Job Summary

As the Senior Rota Coordinator for Ophthalmology at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, you will play a pivotal role within the Ophthalmology team, ensuring the effective coordination of medical rotas that support the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care. Based within one of the UK's largest and busiest teaching hospitals, you will work closely with clinical, operational and administrative teams to manage complex workforce planning, contribute to service improvement projects, and help maintain efficient clinical services across the department.

What you will bring to the role

In this role you will have the opportunity to:

Lead the coordination and management of junior doctor and medical staffing rotas within the Ophthalmology Service.
Work closely with consultants, operational managers, Medical Staffing and the Medical Deployment Team to ensure safe and effective service delivery.
Make independent decisions to resolve rota gaps and secure appropriate staffing cover, often at short notice.
Play a key role in workforce planning, including coordinating annual leave, study leave, sickness absence and staff rotations.
Support the recruitment, induction and onboarding of junior doctors, ensuring they have everything they need to start in post successfully.
Monitor staffing levels, identify potential risks and provide regular reports to senior management to support informed decision-making.
Contribute to service improvement by developing efficient rota management processes and administrative systems.
Line manage administrative colleagues, supporting their development and helping to create a high-performing team.
Manage medical staffing resources within agreed budgets, ensuring cost-effective use of locum cover.
Build strong working relationships with a wide range of colleagues across the Trust, external agencies and partner organisations.
