Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and flexible Ad Hoc / Part Time Groomer to join our team. This role involves providing professional grooming services for a variety of animals, ensuring their comfort and well-being. The position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, supporting pet owners with high-quality care. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for animal care and excellent customer service skills, with the ability to adapt to varying schedules and client needs.
We are looking to expand the services we offer at Hounds and are now looking for an experienced dog groomer to join us on site.
We have a fully fitted mobile grooming van based at our daycare, which will be used as the grooming space. This is not a mobile grooming role, so there is no requirement to drive the van — all grooming appointments will take place on site at Hounds.
There are a few different setup options available depending on what works best for the right person. For example, if you already have your own tools and would prefer to work more independently, there may be the option to rent the grooming space at a higher rate. Alternatively, if you would prefer us to provide the equipment and setup, we can discuss a lower-rate working arrangement.
The role can include all aspects of dog grooming, including:
- Full grooms
- Washes and blow dries
- Deshedding
- Hand stripping
- Nail clipping
- Coat maintenance
- Puppy introductions
- General grooming appointments
The groomer will be responsible for the normal duties involved in running a safe and professional grooming appointment, including preparing the grooming area, filling the bath, carrying out relevant checks, maintaining cleanliness, handling dogs safely, and ensuring each dog is cared for calmly and professionally throughout their groom.
We are looking for someone who is confident, kind, reliable, and experienced in handling dogs of different breeds, coat types, temperaments, and grooming needs. As Hounds is a daycare environment, the right person must be comfortable working around dogs and understand the importance of safe, calm handling.
This could be a great opportunity for an experienced groomer looking to grow their client base within an established dog-focused business.
Hours, days, rates, and setup options can be discussed depending on experience and what arrangement would work best.

Experience
- Previous veterinary experience or animal care background is highly desirable.
- Proven experience in pet grooming or related roles is preferred.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with pet owners.
