Full job description

Machine Shop Manager

Harte Companies specialise in the manufacturing, supply and installation of a range of shop fittings. We have been in operation for more than 50 years and have an established blue chip customer base across retail, cosmetics and other sectors.

We are looking for a motivated, innovative, and organised individual to take ownership of our Woodworking Machine Shop in Ossett. With new machinery, processes and systems to enable the business to continuously improve, this is an exciting time to join Harte.

To succeed, you must have a strong work ethic, an eye for detail, excellent communication skills, plus drive and determination. Leadership skills are key to this role, focusing on the development of your people and the department's objectives. This will include working closely with a number of other departments on a daily basis.

Supporting Operations and co-ordinating staff, the focus is as follows:

· Manage Resources, Operational Plans, and Departmental Relationships

- Right first-time attitude

- Escalation of bottlenecks, shortages, or future issues

· SAP transaction management

- Inventory & stock control

- Maintain accurate time recording

· Error handling & issue resolution

- Quality control and improvement

- Countermeasure implementation

· Maintenance & preventive actions

- Maintain service schedules & machine audits

- Clean working areas (5S – workplace organisation)

- Health and safety reporting and resolutions

You must have strong SAP skills, ideally SAP B1, be familiar with Microsoft 365 apps, be extremely well organised, able to multi-task, maintain the highest levels of accuracy when under pressure and be passionate about customer service.

As part of a highly committed Operations management team, you will play your part in ensuring workflows are maintained and Production plans are adhered to.

A strong Production and Machining background is essential ideally within Woodworking.
