Being a Junior Systems Engineer at Box UK
As a member of our System Engineering team, you'll play a key role in delivering enterprise-level infrastructure, working on projects ranging from small internal tools to large-scale platforms. You'll grow your skills across multiple cloud providers and automation technologies as part of a collaborative team.
In this role you will:
- Utilise your knowledge and problem solving skills to help develop and maintain reliable infrastructure platforms.
- Troubleshoot, investigate, and fix bugs
- Contribute to routine work, including certificate renewals and OS updates
- Participate in, and undertake, code reviews
- Attend and contribute to internal team sprint ceremonies
- Work closely with senior team members to build your skills
- Maintain automated deployments and test/production infrastructure
- Develop infrastructure as code (IaC)
- Support safe deployments, debugging and monitoring
- Collaborate within teams to discuss ideas, challenges and solutions
What you’ll bring:

Required Technical Experience:
- Working with Linux systems
- Scripting in either Windows or Linux
- Setting up Linux based services including MySQL, NGINX and PHP-FPM
- Using either AWS, GCP and Azure platforms
- Using tools such as Terraform and Ansible
- Programming languages or bash scripting
- Experience in delivering secure platforms
- A love of clean coding practices
Ideally, you will also have:
- A passion for continual iterative improvements
- An ability to turn complex problems into simple solutions
- Some familiarity with DevOps principles
- Experience of trunk-based development and CI/CD practices
- Experience of using Jira and Confluence
