Join our dynamic team at Barrett Engineering Steel in Bolton, where we are currently transforming our external storage areas, expanding our ability to hold the largest stock ranges in the North West. We’ve recently undergone a period of substantial investment and transformation and now offer an exciting opportunity to be part of a forward-thinking environment where innovation and progress are at the heart of everything we do.

As a Warehouse Operative, you'll play a crucial role in our operations, ensuring the smooth handling and processing of materials in a modern, state-of-the-art setting. You will need a full UK driving license as you will be shunting vehicles around the site.

We're looking for enthusiastic individuals who are eager to contribute to a workplace that values continuous improvement and teamwork. If you're ready to be part of a growing, ambitious team, Barrett Engineering Steel in Bolton is the place for you.

Specific tasks include:

Pick computer generated orders with handling/lifting of heavy and large items
Accurately record stock movement and usage, along with product identification and use of measuring equipment.
Work efficiently and effectively as part of a team and on your own.
Operate Saws/CNC machines as and when necessary and after full training
Transferring stock to its location using Forklift trucks and cranes
Assisting in the overall production and dispatch of customers’ orders.
Maintain high levels of Health and Safety at all times.
Be adaptable and flexible in approach to work to meet operational requirements
You will need a full UK driving license as you will be shunting vehicles around the site.
Any ad hoc duties required in the role.

You will have the passion, drive, and confidence to work within the business in a collaborative, creative way.

Essential Skills for the role:

The successful candidate will already have experience as a warehouse operative in a heavy industry or steel environment.
You should be used to working safely, adhering to all strict health and safety procedures
Have a flexible attitude, be results oriented, and enjoy working in a team environment
Trained to use mobile equipment such as Side Loader / Fork Truck / OHC.
Use of a bandsaw / circular saw and able to drive would be an advantage.
Cover all areas of the business and move from department to department as required for cover.
Being able to work on own initiative and part of a team.
The ability to read written instructions & record accurately work carried out
Keen for long-term career in the steel industry
Open to any and all training necessary to ensure your skills continue to be fit for purpose
You will need a full UK driving license as you will be shunting vehicles around the site.
