You will take ownership of a critical communication system and provide support to other systems, such as the global video platform. You will play a key role in maintaining, enhancing, and deploying systems across both existing and new vessels, as well as troubleshooting issues as they occur. You’ll combine systems thinking with hands‑on engineering, collaborating closely with IT and operations teams to turn ideas into field‑proven capability.
What you will do:
-
Act as the system owner for critical communications between vessel and shore location, ensuring its reliability, performance, and continuous improvement.
Lead the expansion and deployment of the critical communication system across current fleets and new vessels.
Develop and manage structured maintenance schedules, including:
Maintenance of VMs, communications hardware, and associated infrastructure.
Planned software and firmware upgrades across all system components.
Monitor OEM releases and proactively manage software/firmware updates.
Conduct structured testing of updates within an R&D environment prior to live deployment.
Define and implement a standardised, repeatable test methodology for all upgrades.
Provide expert support to vessel communication platforms when required.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver project milestones on time and to specification.
Contribute to other projects within the Integrated Systems Team to ensure no single point of failures exist.
Assist with troubleshooting, system improvements, and integration of new technologies.
Who you are:
Experienced in systems engineering, with a strong understanding of complex, distributed systems.
Comfortable taking ownership of critical systems and driving continuous improvement.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with a methodical and detail-oriented approach.
Familiar with virtual environments (VMs), networked systems, and hardware/software integration.
Able to plan, document, and execute structured maintenance and testing procedures.
Effective communicator, able to work both independently and collaboratively across teams.
Adaptable and capable of managing multiple priorities across operational support and project work.
Desirable:
Experience with maritime systems or vessel-based technologies.
Familiarity with Clear-Com and Mimer or similar communication systems.
Experience with video systems, streaming, or video distribution technologies.
Knowledge of firmware/software lifecycle management and OEM coordination.
Experience developing standardised test frameworks or validation processes.
Salary for this position: Up to £65,000 per annum
Salary: The salary varies for this position as we are recruiting in multiple regional locations and job grades. The salary process is based on skills, abilities, and experience required.
