Job Title: Maintenance Fitter
Reporting to: Maintenance Fitter / General Manager
We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Fitter to join our established engineering team within a busy manufacturing environment. This is a hands-on role suited to someone with strong maintenance experience across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic systems and general site maintenance.
Working as part of the maintenance team, you will help ensure plant equipment and machinery are operating safely and efficiently, in a safe working environment, supporting production across the site.
Hours of work: Monday - Thursday: 7:30am - 4:15pm / Friday: 7:30am - 12:15pm
Key duties:
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive breakdown repairs
- Diagnose faults on mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
- Maintain production equipment to minimise downtime
- Identify, repair and replace motors, bearings, pumps and associated components
- Support continuous improvement and reliability initiatives
- Ensure all maintenance work is completed safely and in line with company procedures
- Work closely with production to maintain operational performance
- Complete maintenance records and report any recurring issues or concerns
- Assist with installations, upgrades, and general engineering duties when required
Essential Person Specifications:
- Previous experience in a Maintenance Fitter or Maintenance Engineer role
- Maintenance background within an industrial manufacturing environment
- Experience with electrical and hydraulic fault finding and basic maintenance
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good problem solving skills and a proactive approach to maintenance
- Comfortable working within an engineering and manufacturing environment
- Strong awareness of health & safety procedures
Desirable Person Specifications:
- Welding and fabrication experience, including MIG, TIG, or Stick welding
- Electrical qualifications such as 18th Edition, NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent
- Previous experience within manufacturing environments
- Additional industrial certifications such as Counterbalance FLT, IPAF/MEWP, Overhead Crane & Slinging/Lifting, Abrasive Wheels, or IOSH Working Safely qualifications
