Student Advisor

Location: London, Leytonstone
Job Type: Employed, Part-Time (Flexible Working, 12 Hours Per Week)
Salary: National Minimum Wage per hour + Performance-Based Bonus

Performance Bonus Scheme

In addition to a fixed salary, this role includes a generous performance-based bonus scheme, with the opportunity to earn up to % commission per successful student enrolment.

Role Purpose

As an external service provider working in collaboration with universities and colleges, the Student Advisor will deliver tailored support services designed to connect prospective domestic students, particularly those from underrepresented communities, with higher education opportunities across UK universities and colleges.

The role is essential in driving awareness, engagement, and student applications through outreach activities, advisory services, and event facilitation, supporting widening participation and improving access to higher education.

Key Responsibilities1. Targeted Outreach & Marketing

Plan and deliver campaigns to engage hard-to-reach and underrepresented communities.
Promote university programmes and opportunities through community engagement, partnerships, local events, and digital channels.
Provide feedback and insights based on outreach activities and community engagement.

2. Open Day Facilitation

Coordinate and promote university open days and recruitment events.
Drive and manage bookings from prospective applicants.
Support students in preparing for meaningful engagement during events.

3. Enquiry and Application Support

Offer personalised advice and guidance to prospective students.
Provide impartial information about higher education pathways, admissions requirements, and available programmes.
Assist students in accessing and completing university application platforms.

4. Enrolment Navigation

Support successful applicants through the enrolment process.
Assist with documentation and onboarding requirements.
Ensure applicant declarations are completed appropriately.

5. Post-Enrolment Advisory & Referral

Refer enrolled students to academic, wellbeing, finance, and support services when required.
Gather student feedback and share recurring themes to improve the student experience.

6. Community Intelligence & Reporting

Collect and report insights from outreach activities and applicant interactions.
Identify barriers, trends, and opportunities to enhance participation strategies.

Person SpecificationEssential Skills and Experience

Previous experience in outreach, student engagement, admissions, recruitment, or education advisory roles.
Strong understanding of the UK higher education sector and admissions processes.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to build trust and rapport with people from diverse backgrounds.
Strong organisational and administrative skills.
Ability to work independently and achieve targets.

Desirable Skills

Experience working with widening participation initiatives.
Multilingual skills are highly desirable.
Experience using CRM systems and Microsoft Office applications.
