This role is offered on a fixed-term contract for a period of up to 12 months.
We are seeking a Senior Client Onboarding Officer to join our Onboarding function within the wider Risk & Compliance group at the firm. This is an important, highly technical role, supporting the firm’s client acceptance process and anti-money laundering (AML) and sanctions compliance framework.
There is also a preference for dual-skilled candidates as per standard model, i.e. those with prior experience dealing with legal Conflict of Interest checks in a similar function. However prior experience is not a strict requirement for consideration for the role, if candidate(s) demonstrates strong and relevant AML/KYC experience. Full training would be provided in Conflicts of Interests, to ensure the Candidate is fully equipped to develop in the role, in the event of having AML experience only.
The successful candidate will manage a steady volume of frequently complex onboarding matters, provide technical guidance to colleagues junior and senior, and act in a supervisory capacity over Client Onboarding Officers via Quality Control and review, overseen by a Client Onboarding Manager. The role requires strong regulatory knowledge in the field of AML/CFT/ABC ideally with an international element to their previous projects and screening duties, sound judgement, proven experience in the screening and risk assessing of global company structures. A suitable candidate will be experienced in performing checks using applicable tools and software. They should demonstrate a capacity to operate confidently in a fast-paced, international environment with complex and nuanced local frameworks to cater to, to ensure efficient, stakeholder-friendly compliance assistance.
Qualifications and Education:
Undergraduate diplomas in Law or other relevant disciplines are preferred. However, specific circumstances outside of this with transferable expertise/skills will be considered.
Relevant Employment Experience:
Proven experience in a comparable commercial services firm or business model aligning with that of a global law firm, in an AML compliance type role.
Job duties:
1. Conduct AML screening and risk assessments (+ Conflicts screening post-training) at a high-quality level ensuring accuracy and sophisticated work product
2. Provide support and feedback in Quality Control, supervision, and development of junior staff
3. Manage and navigate key stakeholder needs, queries and service-level issues at Partner and fee-earner team level
4. Attend & deliver relevant training internally as business needs demand.
5. Escalate relevant team management issues to Client Onboarding Manager(s)
