Pack Team Lead
Location: Gateshead Team Valley, UK
Reports to: Nightshift Shift Manager
Direct Reports: Production Operator, Palletiser, Machinist

We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Pack Team Lead to join our production team. As a Pack Team Lead, you will lead a small team of employees, ensuring all training requirements are completed within the required timeframe, managing holidays and absences, and addressing any ER issues. You will be responsible for planning and overseeing the packing production within the facility, ensuring all orders are delivered on time and meet customer specifications with the required quality and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Stand in for the Shift Manager when required.
- Liaise with the Product Lead to ensure product quality and schedule adherence.
- Set up, adjust, and plan production lines to deliver the production plan effectively.
- Ensure Quality Assurance Specifications are fully understood and adhered to.
- Address and monitor any concerns and areas for improvement.
- Ensure the final product meets all specifications.
- Manage absence, holidays, and ER issues, planning effectively to ensure required personnel are available.
- Train and verify competency on all relevant quality control checks.
- Train Production Operators to successfully undertake their job.
- Perform GMP audits and Risk Assessments in own area.
- Ensure stock rotation, line clearance, and traceability procedures are always adhered to.
- Organize, document, and complete changeovers and cleans on time, ensuring allergen tests are passed.
- Support the Shift Manager in delivering Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC).
- Complete all process control documentation in time and in full.
- Ensure all health and safety requirements for the line and the team are fully adhered to.
- Ensure smooth running of all processing through to palletisation.
- Ensure 100% accuracy in packaging, coding, and labelling.
- Lead Continuous Improvement projects.
- Lead the packing team to ensure SQDC is delivered.
- Carry out other duties as required by the line manager.
Skills & Experience:
- Able to understand, evaluate, and apply technical information.
- Quick to identify critical information and respond appropriately.
- Able to define, work within, and improve business processes.
- Effective time management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work and relate effectively with both executives and operators.
- Experience in food manufacturing and food handling.
- Level 2 Food Safety (provided by the business).
- Level 2 Health and Safety, Manual Handling, and leadership/team building qualifications are desirable.
