Yard Operative (Sleaford)

Turnbull & Co is a family-owned builders’ merchant with long-standing roots across Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire. We’re looking for a reliable Yard Operative to join our Sleaford trading centre and play a key role in serving our trade customers and supporting daily branch operations.

This is a hands-on, practical role based at our yard, focused on getting things right for customers and working closely with the branch team.

What you’ll be doing

Loading and unloading delivery vehicles safely and accurately
Checking loads against customer orders
Preparing stock for delivery and maintaining yard organisation
Receiving and putting away palletised deliveries
Supporting trade customers in the yard with a helpful, approachable manner
Working as part of the wider branch team to keep operations running smoothly

What we’re looking for

You don’t need previous builders’ merchant experience — we’re happy to train the right person.

What matters most is:

A positive attitude and willingness to work
Being reliable, practical, and safety-conscious
Able to work well as part of a team
Comfortable dealing with customers in a polite, professional way
Forklift experience is desirable, but not essential (training available)
