Full job description

We are looking for a passionate and organised Progress Coach to join our team and support in the development of the next generation of Construction professionals.

The Progress Coach will assist tracking apprentice engagement and performance, implement effective intervention strategies, and provide holistic support that removes barriers to success and keeps learners on track to achieve their goals.

This is a rewarding opportunity to work closely with apprentices, guiding them through their qualifications, helping them develop resilience and achieving their full potential.

Interviews for this role will be taking place week commencing 27 July, 2026.

Your duties

You will:

Provide one‑to‑one and group coaching to support apprentice motivation, progress, and achievement of on‑programme and gateway requirements.
Work with apprentices to develop clear action plans and SMART targets linked to knowledge, skills, behaviours, attendance, and workplace engagement.
Monitor apprentice progress, attendance, and engagement using tracking systems, reviews, and employer feedback, implementing timely interventions where needed.
Identify and support apprentices at risk of disengagement, low confidence, or withdrawal, building resilience and re‑engagement through targeted coaching.
Plan and deliver engaging, inclusive personal development sessions focused on employability, professional behaviours, wellbeing, and essential life skills.
Collaborate closely with tutors, employers, curriculum teams, careers, and student support services to provide coordinated, holistic support.
Act as a first point of contact for pastoral concerns, signposting apprentices to safeguarding, wellbeing, mental health, or external support services where appropriate.

Person specification

You will have a Level 3 qualification in Carpentry or Bricklaying and hold strong industry experience.
You will have experience working within the construction industry or supporting construction apprentices in the workplace.
You will be confident delivery of engaging, inclusive, and motivational classroom‑based sessions.

You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be able to demonstrate giving effective and constructive feedback to individuals with the ability to build strong, positive relationships with learners, employers, and colleagues.
You will have a strong understanding of learner engagement strategies, barriers to learning, safeguarding principles, and inclusion.
