Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Assistant Chef to join our dynamic culinary team. This role offers an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about food and eager to develop their skills in a professional kitchen environment. The successful candidate will support the head chef in preparing high-quality dishes, maintaining kitchen operations, and ensuring excellent standards of food safety and hygiene. Previous kitchen experience is preferred, but a genuine enthusiasm for cooking and learning is essential.

Duties

Assist in the preparation and cooking of a variety of dishes according to established recipes and standards
Support meal preparation for service periods, ensuring timely delivery of orders
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of workstations, adhering to food safety regulations
Help with inventory management, including stock rotation and storage
Assist in setting up kitchen equipment and ensuring all tools are maintained in good condition
Follow health and safety procedures diligently to uphold a safe working environment
Support serving staff during busy periods, including plating dishes and managing food presentation
Contribute to team efforts to deliver exceptional dining experiences for guests

Skills

Proven experience in food preparation and cooking within a professional setting is desirable
Strong understanding of food safety standards and hygiene practices
Ability to work efficiently under pressure during busy service hours
Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail in meal presentation and cleanliness
Good communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members
Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities within the kitchen environment
Previous restaurant or catering experience is advantageous but not essential; enthusiasm for culinary arts is key
Basic serving skills are beneficial, especially during peak times
