The aims of the Bromsgrove Youth and Community Hub are:
To work with the aim of enhancing the lives of young people and the Community in Bromsgrove, by offering them a safe and secure place to go to, within the following parameters:
1) Working to address community issues within the District of Bromsgrove
2) Raising awareness and educating the public about the issues and difficulties affecting the lives of Young People.
3) To enhance the lives of young people and the Community within Bromsgrove.
4) The Hub gives a platform for the young people of Bromsgrove to have a voice and allows that voice to be heard by the wider public and partnerships.
5) Cultivating a sentiment in favour of equality and diversity with young people and the community.
About this role
The Youth and Curriculum Worker role has been created to help deliver a variety of youth work sessions to young people aged 10 – 19. This post will include delivering 121 and group sessions on our Alternative Provision and supporting on our youth club provisions which could include face to face, remote sessions, community events, school projects and outreach work.

Criminal Records Check, Safeguarding registration & legal right to work
As the role may include unsupervised work with vulnerable young people a DBS check will be required that the Bromsgrove Youth and Community Hub will organise and pay for. Employment will depend on these checks being acceptable. Failure to disclose information that appears on this check may result in withdrawal of the offer of employment.
We are also now required to see a passport or other documentation to prove you have a legal right to work in this country. We will also require seeing the certificate of qualifications that you have received.
Main terms and conditions
Salary: £28,598 pro rata, 22hrs a week, 12 month contract
Location: The office is based in Bromsgrove
Termination: The appointment will be subject to one month’s notice to be given by, or served to, the board of Trustees.
Leave: All holiday must be agreed in advance by a senior manager
Expenses: Authorised travel, subsistence when working away from base and other expenses will be reimbursed according to scales and guidelines set by the board.
Transport: You will need to be able to use your own vehicle for work. In return you will be reimbursed for mileage at rates set by the board. You will also be required to have business insurance on your car
Hours Mostly the hours will be during the day and evening on a Monday to Friday, although some weekend work is likely with this role.
This role is flexible and will require working under your own initiative.

Job Title: Youth and Curriculum Worker
Reporting to Management Team
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Initiate, develop and maintain positive relationships with children and young people in order to identify key issues relevant to them
- To be involved in the planning and facilitating of project activities for children and young people
- To direct youth work in a way that encourages young people to develop their self – awareness, improve their skills and empower them to make positive decisions
- To work in ways which promote equality of opportunity and celebrates diversity
- To work with young people to safeguard their welfare
- To promote a culture of health and safety
- To actively take part in one-to-one supervision sessions with your manager.
- To work in line with The Hub’s policies and procedures including legal requirements, health and safety, child protection and equal opportunities
- To work with the young people to break down some of the barriers which they feel that they face when integrating within the wider community
- There will be a requirement to keep clear session recording and any evaluation data needed to report back to funders
- To deliver sessions through our Alternative School Provision, supporting and enhancing young peoples learning opportunities.
Other Duties:
- To work in a flexible manner to meet the needs of the service and individual young people
- To undertake training as required
- To contribute to the dissemination of the key messages and learning with partner agencies
- Be aware of and adhere to the Hub policies and procedures
- Observe procedures and codes of conduct as defined
- Act as a good role model and champion best practice at all times
- Report concerns effectively to the Coordinator and/or Trustees
