Full job description

Company Overview

Child Care LLP specialises in providing expert legal advice and representation for children, parents, grandparents, and other connected persons involved in public law children proceedings. The practice comprises to two experienced child care solicitors, both on the Children Panel.

Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated paralegal to provide high quality legal and administrative support. The successful candidate will provide essential support in preparing documents, managing case files, and ensuring smooth communication with clients and other professionals. It is essential that the successful candidate has proven working knowledge of public law children proceedings and legal aid.

Responsibilities

Assist in preparing legal documents, such as witness statements, court applications, letters of instruction, briefs to counsel and other general legal correspondence with accuracy and attention to detail
Open, organise and maintain case files on a case management system
Conduct legal research
Liaise professionally with clients, cafcass, counsel, courts, local authorities and other professionals.
Manage correspondence with clients and professionals via Microsoft Outlook
Schedule appointments, court dates, and meetings efficiently using time management skills
Maintain strict confidentiality and comply with Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) requirements, data protection regulations and professional conduct obligations at all times
Prepare legal aid applications and amendments through CCMS
Assist counsel at hearings and in conference as and when required

Experience

Proven experience as a paralegal or in a similar legal support role within public law children proceedings
Working knowledge of Legal Aid
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to liaise effectively with clients and professionals
Client focused approach with the ability to build positive working relationships with clients and other professionals
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) for document creation, data management, and scheduling
Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced enviroment
Ability to work effectively within a team environment but also be able to work independently
Professional integrity and discretion
Ability to travel to surrounding areas

Working Hours

Monday to Friday - 9am until 5pm

Salary

Competitive, dependent upon experience

Driving Licence preferred

Experience:

paralegal or similar : 1 year (required)
