PURPOSE

As the Supply Chain Manager, you will lead the company's logistics and distribution function, ensuring finished products are planned, dispatched and delivered in accordance with customer requirements. You will oversee transport operations, dispatch planning, fleet coordination and third-party logistics providers while working closely with Production, Warehouse & Fulfilment, Client Services and Planning to ensure seamless movement of goods from manufacture to customer delivery.
You will be responsible for developing a high-performing logistics operation focused on service, efficiency, cost control and continuous improvement.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
§ Logistics & Distribution
o Lead the day-to-day logistics operation, ensuring customer deliveries are planned, coordinated and completed safely, efficiently and On Time In Full (OTIF).
o Develop effective transport plans that maximise vehicle utilisation, minimise costs and meet customer delivery requirements.
o Manage the company's transport operation, including company vehicles, drivers and approved third-party logistics providers.
o Ensure dispatch activities are coordinated effectively, maintaining excellent communication between Warehouse & Fulfilment, Production and Client Services.
o Monitor delivery performance, responding proactively to delays, customer issues and changing operational priorities.
§ Customer Fulfilment
o Work closely with the Warehouse & Fulfilment Manager to ensure finished goods are available for dispatch in line with customer commitments.
o Collaborate with the Production Manager and Planning Manager to align manufacturing completion dates with transport schedules.
o Support Client Services by providing accurate delivery updates and resolving logistics-related customer enquiries.
o Ensure customer-specific delivery requirements, installation schedules and service expectations are consistently achieved.
§ Operational Performance
o Monitor and report logistics KPIs including OTIF, transport costs, vehicle utilisation, delivery performance, loading efficiency and customer service levels.
o Identify opportunities to improve logistics processes, reduce transport costs and enhance customer service.
o Lead Continuous Improvement initiatives within the logistics operation, promoting Lean principles and efficient working practices.
o Ensure accurate transport documentation, delivery records and logistics reporting are maintained.
§ Compliance & Fleet Management
o Ensure compliance with all transport legislation, operator licence requirements, vehicle maintenance schedules and driver regulations where applicable.
o Manage fleet maintenance, inspections and servicing programmes in partnership with the Engineering & Facilities Manager where appropriate.
o Ensure transport operations comply with company Health & Safety policies, environmental legislation and customer site requirements.
o Monitor transport-related risk, implementing corrective actions where required.
§ Leadership & Collaboration
o Lead, coach and develop the Logistics team, creating a culture of accountability, customer focus and continuous improvement.
o Work collaboratively with the Production Manager to support efficient production flow and customer delivery performance.
o Build strong working relationships with Warehouse & Fulfilment, Planning, Client Services, Procurement, Quality and Engineering teams.
o Support strategic logistics projects, new customer requirements and operational improvement initiatives.
o Prepare regular logistics performance reports for the Operations Director, highlighting achievements, risks and improvement opportunities.
o Manage logistics budgets and transport expenditure, ensuring value for money while maintaining excellent service standards.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Significant experience managing logistics, transport or distribution operations within a manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience shipping to the EU and the USA.
- Proven experience leading logistics teams and managing customer delivery operations.
- Strong understanding of transport planning, fleet management and distribution processes.
- Excellent knowledge of customer service principles and supply chain operations.
- Strong commercial awareness with the ability to balance service performance and operational costs.
- Excellent leadership, organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Good IT skills, including experience using ERP, MIS, warehouse management or transport management systems.
- Good understanding of Health & Safety legislation within a logistics environment.
DESIRED REQUIREMENTS
- CSPC, CLTD or CPSM Qualified.
- Experience within the print, graphics, retail display, packaging or manufacturing sectors.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Lean Logistics and Continuous Improvement methodologies.
- Experience managing third-party logistics providers and customer delivery contracts.
- Relevant qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain Management or Operations Management.
- IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent Health & Safety qualification.
- Experience supporting ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.
- Membership of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) would be advantageous.
Pay: £60,000.00-£80,000.00 per year
