Job title: Production Operator I

Location: Royston, UK

At Johnson Matthey, your work will matter. As a Production Operator I, you’ll join a world leader in platinum group metals with over 200 years of history. Using advanced metals chemistry, you’ll help tackle the world’s biggest challenges - cutting emissions, powering modern life and supporting life‑saving technologies - by applying, refining and recycling metals that matter for a healthier, more sustainable, circular future.

The role:

As a Production Operator I, you will help drive our goals by:

Following standard operating procedures to manufacture platinum group metal alloys and components

Operating and setting up production equipment safely and effectively

Monitoring product quality using measuring equipment and recording process data accurately

Working with colleagues to meet production targets and customer demand

Supporting waste reduction and continuous improvement activities

Inspecting, testing and packaging materials ready for further processing or customer delivery

Key skills that will help you succeed in this role:

Ability to follow clear procedures and maintain strong attention to detail

Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team

Commitment to health, safety and environmental standards

Basic IT skills and confidence working with data and systems

Experience in a manufacturing or production environment (desirable)

Good manual dexterity and coordination with the ability to handle materials safely
