GENERAL OPERATIONS MANAGER – MULTI-SITE CAFÉ & HOSPITALITY GROUP West Sussex & Portsmouth

Take Control of a Growing Hospitality Business

We are looking for a driven, experienced and hands-on General Operations Manager to oversee and manage our hospitality group across multiple locations.

This is a senior leadership role for someone who can take full responsibility for operations, team performance, sales growth, customer experience and business development across all sites.

Key Responsibilities

Operations Management

Oversee the day-to-day running of all venues
Ensure smooth opening and closing procedures
Maintain high operational standards across all sites
Conduct regular site inspections and audits
Implement and maintain company systems and procedures
Ensure consistency of service, food quality and presentation

Team Management

Create and manage weekly staff rotas
Recruit, train and onboard new employees
Conduct regular staff performance reviews
Hold weekly team meetings and management meetings
Manage disciplinary procedures when required
Develop team leaders and supervisors
Ensure staff motivation and retention

Sales & Business Growth

Monitor daily, weekly and monthly sales performance
Develop strategies to increase revenue and profitability
Introduce promotions and marketing initiatives
Analyse business performance and identify opportunities for growth
Improve customer retention and repeat business
Monitor competitor activity and local market trends

Financial Control

Monitor labour costs and staffing efficiency
Control stock levels and minimise wastage
Approve and manage supplier orders
Review weekly and monthly business reports
Assist with budgeting and forecasting

Customer Experience

Ensure exceptional customer service standards
Handle customer complaints professionally
Monitor online reviews and customer feedback
Implement improvements based on customer insights
Maintain a welcoming and professional atmosphere

Compliance & Standards

Ensure compliance with food hygiene regulations
Maintain Health & Safety standards
Ensure licensing requirements are followed
Manage risk assessments and staff training records
Ensure all company policies and procedures are followed

Administrative Duties

Prepare operational reports for ownership
Monitor staffing levels and recruitment needs
Manage communication between all sites
Coordinate maintenance and repair requirements
Ensure all documentation and records are up to date

Essential Requirements

✔ Proven hospitality management experience✔ Strong leadership and communication skills✔ Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities✔ Ability to manage multiple sites and teams✔ Experience with rota management and staff development✔ Commercial awareness and business-focused mindset✔ Ability to work independently and take ownership of results✔ Full UK driving licence preferred

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who can take full operational control of the business, build strong teams, drive sales growth, maintain exceptional standards and ensure all venues operate efficiently with minimal owner involvement.
