attendance at a Dstl location; Government Departments including wider MoD or Delivery and
Mission Partners premises for 60% of your working time. Where business needs allow, and with
the agreement of your line manager, there may be the option for a combination of workplace and
home-based working. This is a non-contractual arrangement.
The role is responsible for technical leadership, planning and implementing strategy to ensure all waste management services are completed to the agreed standard and comply with all regulatory and legislative standards within your teams designated cluster of buildings. You will
ensure that standards are understood internally within Dstl and externally with multiple stakeholders including the providers and DIO.
As standards change, you will be responsible for interpreting these and ensuring compliance utilising the appropriate frameworks and agreed processes. You will contribute to the defining of strategies for the Dstl estate, as well as reviewing requirements and interacting with the waste management community across the Dstl Estate. You will provide Technical Assurance & Compliance across the group and specifically into the Estates Technical Lead.

In this role you will:

Collaborate with the Environmental and Sustainability Corporate team, FM Provider and

Waste Management team to ensure a fit-for-purpose service provision, a safe, secure and statutory compliant estate.

Ensure plans and activities across Estates reflect the wider strategic priorities and communicate effectively with senior leaders to influence future strategies.

Encourage, recognise and share innovative ideas from a diverse range of stakeholders.

Work to the agreed budget within agreed delegation limits and contribute to annual budgeting and in year forecasting.

We are looking for someone who has:
-
Extensive knowledge of waste disposal technologies, environmental impact assessments, sustainability practices and health, safety and environmental standards in waste management.

Evidence of successfully engaging in contract, regulator and supplier relationships in a complex shared service environment.
-
Ability to ensure compliance across the business and demonstrate to key stakeholders a safe and compliant estate.
-
Competence in using Microsoft Office software.
-
Understanding in complying with waste statutory, regulatory and professional requirements.
Experience
-
Extensive experience (usually 5-10 years) in the waste management or related field with experience in a leadership/managerial role
-
Experience managing waste management projects, and teams.
-
Experienced customer relationship management and stakeholder liaison.
-
Extensive knowledge of waste management and environmental statutory processes, regulations and related legislation.
-
Experience and delivery of collating, analysing and reporting business information to senior management.
