Position Summary

The Insurance Protection Specialist is responsible for providing professional advice and solutions relating to life and health insurance products. The role involves identifying client needs, conducting financial and risk assessments, recommending suitable insurance solutions, managing policy applications, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and delivering ongoing client service.

Key Responsibilities

- Client Consultation and Needs Analysis

- Meet with prospective and existing clients to understand their financial goals, family circumstances, health considerations, and protection needs.

- Conduct comprehensive fact-finding and needs assessments.

- Identify gaps in life, disability, critical illness, income protection, and medical coverage.

- Explain insurance concepts, benefits, exclusions, and policy features in a clear and professional manner.

Financial and Risk Assessment

- Evaluate clients' financial position, liabilities, income, assets, and dependents.

- Assess insurance risks and determine appropriate levels of coverage.

- Review existing insurance portfolios and recommend improvements where necessary.

Product Recommendation and Presentation

- Recommend suitable life and health insurance solutions based on client needs.

- Prepare and present insurance proposals and quotations.

- Compare available products and explain policy benefits, limitations, waiting periods, and premium structures.

- Ensure recommendations comply with regulatory and ethical standards.

Application and Underwriting Process

- Complete and submit insurance applications accurately.

- Collect required supporting documentation.

- Coordinate medical examinations and health assessments when required.

- Liaise with underwriters to facilitate risk assessment and policy approval.

- Follow up on outstanding requirements and underwriting decisions.

Policy Implementation

- Review approved policy terms and conditions.

- Explain policy documentation to clients.

- Ensure policy issuance is completed accurately and on time.

- Confirm premium payment arrangements and policy activation.

Ongoing Client Service and Policy Reviews

- Conduct regular policy reviews and coverage assessments.

- Update policies when clients experience significant life events.

- Assist clients with beneficiary updates, policy amendments, and coverage adjustments.

- Maintain long-term client relationships through proactive communication.

Claims Support and Administration

- Assist clients with claims notification and submission.

- Guide clients through claims requirements and documentation.

- Liaise with insurers during the claims assessment process.

- Monitor claim progress and provide regular updates to clients.

Compliance and Record Management

- Maintain accurate and complete client records.

- Ensure compliance with all regulatory, legal, and company requirements.

- Adhere to privacy, confidentiality, and data protection standards.

- Complete all required disclosures and compliance documentation.

- Maintain knowledge of industry trends and product developments.

- End-to-End Process Responsibilities

- Initial client consultation and fact-finding.

- Needs analysis and risk assessment.

- Presentation of recommendations and quotations.

- Co-ordination of application forms and supporting documents.

- Submission of applications to insurers.

- Coordination of underwriting and medical requirements.

- Follow-up and management of underwriting outcomes.

Policy approval and issuance.

- Premium collection and policy activation.

- Ongoing service, reviews, and policy maintenance.

- Claims assistance and support.

- Renewal and retention activities.

Qualifications and Experience

- Relevant insurance qualification or industry certification.

- Experience in a similar role

- Knowledge of life insurance, health insurance, critical illness, and income protection products.

- Strong understanding of underwriting and claims processes.

- Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.

- Ability to analyse financial and risk information.

- Strong attention to detail and administrative accuracy.

- Proficiency in CRM and insurance administration systems.
