Full job description

Overview
We are seeking a professional and friendly Optical Receptionist to join our busy optometry practice. The successful candidate will be the first point of contact for patients, providing excellent customer service and administrative support. This role offers an opportunity to work in a welcoming environment where organisational skills and a warm demeanour are highly valued. Previous office or administrative experience is preferred, but full training will be provided for the right candidate.

Duties

Greet patients warmly and professionally upon arrival, ensuring a positive first impression
Manage patient appointments, including scheduling, confirmations, and rescheduling as needed
Answer phone calls, respond to enquiries, and direct calls appropriately
Maintain accurate patient records and update information in the system
Assist with processing payments and insurance documentation
Organise patient flow to ensure efficient clinic operations
Support the team with general administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and correspondence
Ensure the reception area remains tidy, welcoming, and well-stocked with necessary materials

Qualifications

Prior office or administrative experience is desirable but not essential; training will be provided
Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail
Friendly and professional communication skills, both verbal and written
Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment
Proficient in using office software such as Microsoft Office or similar programmes
A positive attitude and a willingness to learn new skills

Pay: From £13.00 per hour
