Job Overview

Join our dynamic culinary team as a Kitchen Porter/Assistant, where your energy and enthusiasm will help keep our kitchen running smoothly and efficiently. In this vital role, you will support the culinary staff by maintaining cleanliness, assisting with food preparation, and ensuring all kitchen operations adhere to the highest standards of hygiene and safety. This position offers a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced hospitality environment, perfect for those passionate about food, cooking, and hospitality.

Duties

Assist with basic food preparation tasks such as chopping, peeling, and organizing ingredients to support chefs and kitchen staff
Maintain cleanliness of all kitchen areas, including washing dishes, utensils, pots, and pans promptly and efficiently
Ensure all kitchen equipment is cleaned, stored properly, and maintained in good working order
Support the setup and breakdown of service stations before and after meal periods
Help manage stock levels by organizing storage areas and notifying supervisors of supply needs
Follow health and safety regulations diligently to uphold hygiene standards across the kitchen environment
Support serving staff during busy service times by providing necessary items or assistance as directed

Experience

Previous experience in a restaurant or hospitality setting is preferred but not essential; enthusiasm to learn is most important
Familiarity with food preparation, cooking techniques, or culinary environments is advantageous
Experience working in hotels or similar hospitality venues can be beneficial
Basic understanding of health and safety procedures within a kitchen setting is desirable
Strong teamwork skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment
