Full job description

Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Assistant/Relief Cook to join our team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about food preparation and culinary arts to contribute to a busy kitchen environment. The successful candidate will support daily meal service, assist with food preparation, and ensure the smooth operation of kitchen activities. Prior experience in a similar setting is preferred but not essential, as training will be provided. This position is paid and suitable for those looking to develop their skills within a professional kitchen.

Responsibilities

Assist with food preparation and cooking under the supervision of the head chef or senior kitchen staff
Support meal preparation for various dietary requirements and menu items
Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene in accordance with health regulations
Help with cleaning, organising, and sanitising kitchen equipment and work areas
Serve meals to clients or customers as required, ensuring presentation standards are met
Assist with stock rotation, inventory checks, and ordering supplies when necessary
Support relief cooking duties during busy periods or staff absences

Requirements

Experience in food preparation, cooking, or a related culinary role is desirable but not mandatory; training will be provided for suitable candidates
Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices in a professional kitchen environment
Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team
Good organisational skills and attention to detail
Flexibility to adapt to varying tasks and shifts as needed
Previous experience in a restaurant or catering setting is advantageous but not essential
Willingness to learn new skills and take on additional responsibilities as required

Pay: £13.00 per hour
