Job Introduction

Job Title: Hertfordshire Youth Workers

Salary Range: £33,869 to £36,364 per annum

Hours: Full Time (37.0 hours per week)

Job Locations: Broxbourne, Welwyn Hatfield and Dacorum
Contract Type: Permanent

If you do not already hold a JNC qualification, we will fully fund your qualification – you’ll start with us as a trainee on £29,644 to £33,066 per annum.

HCC Services for Young People is the primary provider of youth work, careers education information advice guidance, work related learning, work experience and the review and maintenance of education health and care plans for young people post-16 / post school.

Our vision for young people is clear. We want young people to succeed, and by working for us you’ll be key to enable this to happen.

We work with vulnerable young people to address emerging needs, improve life chances, and reduce escalation to more expensive and intensive services. This includes supporting those challenged in education, their community or home life, to ensure a successful transition to adulthood. The young people are typically 11-17 and up to 25 for Care Leavers and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.

About the roles

You’ll be delivering important targeted work, working with vulnerable young people. This will involve leading on group work projects with support from Youth Support Workers and delivering one to one support. By delivering this work, you can make a real difference to young people’s lives.

You would be giving young people support at an early stage, preventing their issues from seriously affecting their daily life, health, development, or safety.

We are looking for candidates who can quickly establish positive relationships with diverse groups of young people and respond flexibly to their needs and the priorities of the service.

About you
Essential:

You’ll either need a nationally recognised JNC qualification or the ability to complete the JNC high education qualification.
Recent experience of working with young people.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Ability to prioritise workload and planning.
Ability to work regular evenings in line with JNC terms and conditions.
Confident in using ICT.
Previous line management experience is desirable.
Full UK driving licence & regular access to a vehicle.

Where we are funding your JNC qualification, the funding is repayable if you leave within two years of post-qualification.
