The Admissions Officer is responsible for processing and assessing applications for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes within a designated academic portfolio, contributing to the delivery of a high-quality, compliant and applicant-focused admissions service within the Home Admissions function of the Student Experience Group Directorate.

Job Purpose:

Working under the guidance of a Senior Admissions Officer and Admissions Manager, the postholder will make admissions decisions in accordance with approved entry criteria, University policy and regulatory requirements, provide accurate and professional advice to applicants and academic colleagues, and support the operational delivery of key admissions activities including Confirmation, Clearing and Enrolment.

Acting as the primary admissions contact for a designated portfolio, the postholder will maintain accurate admissions records, contribute to applicant engagement and conversion activities, and champion fair, transparent and inclusive admissions practice. They will work collaboratively with Academic Colleges and Professional Services colleagues to deliver an efficient, applicant-centred admissions experience while maintaining the integrity of admissions decision-making and supporting the University's strategic recruitment objectives.

The postholder will actively contribute to the Home Admissions Team's commitment to delivering an inclusive, professional and high-performing service, helping to build a university community where everyone feels welcomed, supported and able to thrive.

Main Duties & Responsibilities of the role:

Process and assess undergraduate and postgraduate applications in line with University Admissions Policy, entry criteria and regulatory requirements.
Manage a designated admissions portfolio, acting as the primary point of contact for applicants, academic colleagues and professional services.
Make timely admissions decisions, including assessment of qualifications, supporting evidence, contextual information and Fee Status Assessments, escalating complex cases where appropriate.
Maintain accurate applicant records and support Right to Study processes, ensuring compliance with University and UKVI requirements.
Ensure admissions activity complies with University policy, consumer protection legislation, OfS, Equality Act, GDPR and other regulatory requirements.
Contribute to quality assurance, compliance reviews and the identification of fraudulent or high-risk applications.
Provide accurate, timely and professional advice to applicants, delivering an inclusive and applicant-centred admissions experience.
Support applicant engagement and conversion activity in collaboration with academic colleagues and the wider Admissions Team.
Build effective relationships with Academic Colleges and Professional Services to facilitate timely admissions decisions and coordinated applicant support.
Coordinate interviews, selection activities and admissions events, ensuring decisions are returned within agreed timescales.
Support the operational delivery of Confirmation, Clearing and Enrolment, including applicant communications and record management.
Contribute to continuous improvement by supporting projects, maintaining guidance materials and identifying opportunities to enhance admissions processes and the applicant experience.
Support safeguarding, DBS, Occupational Health and Fitness to Practise processes, escalating welfare or safeguarding concerns appropriately.
Represent the University at recruitment and admissions events, work collaboratively across the Admissions Team, and undertake other duties commensurate with the grade.

Annual leave requests during Conﬁrmation Week and the three weeks immediately following will normally only be approved in exceptional circumstances

Ability to work across University campuses where required
