About the Role
Grounds maintenance provides an essential service in ensuring public spaces are safe, clean, and well-maintained. As a Grounds Maintenance Operative (Manual Labour GM), you will support the maintenance of parks, open spaces, and public areas, helping to deliver high-quality outdoor environments for the local community. The role involves a range of manual grounds maintenance and general labouring duties while maintaining high standards of safety and workmanship.
What You'll Be Doing
Carrying out general grounds maintenance duties across parks, open spaces, and public areas
Maintaining green spaces and outdoor areas to a high standard
Using manual tools and grounds maintenance equipment safely and effectively
Undertaking general labouring tasks as required
Keeping work areas clean, tidy, and safe at all times
Following health and safety procedures and safe working practices
Completing tasks and duties as directed by supervisors
Supporting the wider grounds maintenance team to deliver an effective service
Ensuring tools and equipment are used correctly and maintained appropriately
What We're Looking For
We are seeking a reliable, hardworking, and safety-conscious individual with experience in outdoor manual work and a commitment to maintaining high standards.
You'll ideally have:
Previous experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, or general manual labour
Ability to undertake physically demanding outdoor work in all weather conditions
Good understanding of health and safety practices
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Reliable and punctual approach to work
Right to work in the UK
Successful interview completion
Up-to-date CV
Two satisfactory written references
Willingness to undertake relevant training where required

Nice-to-Have Requirements
Experience working for a local authority or public sector organisation
Experience using grounds maintenance equipment and hand tools
Relevant licences, qualifications, or certifications where applicable
