Job Role - Health and Safety Support Manager
Grade: ML1/SB3
Salary: £52,000

Roles Available: 2
Role Type: Permanent

Location: West and North Yorkshire / Liverpool City Region and Cheshire
Hours: 37 per week

We're looking for an experienced Health & Safety Support Manager to join Northern's Engineering team and help drive a positive safety culture across the Engineering function.

You’ll be the primary Health and Safety point of contact for your area and you’ll work closely with managers within the engineering function, Outstations, Train Presentation locations and other engineering teams providing expert advice, coaching and support to ensure our Safety Management System is embedded, risks are effectively managed, and continuous improvement is achieved.

What you'll do

Coach and support managers on Health & Safety best practice, encouraging ownership and accountability.
Carry out audits, inspections and support management teams to implement corrective actions.
Support accident and incident investigations.
Provide expert advice on risk management and risk control measures.
Analyse safety performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
Promote compliance with Health & Safety legislation and Northern's Safety Management System.
Work collaboratively with Engineering, Occupational Health and Trade Union colleagues to improve safety performance.

About you

You'll have:

NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety.
IOSH (TechIOSH or above) or IIRSM (AIIRSM or above) membership.
Strong knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation and Safety Management Systems.
Experience in coaching managers, carrying out investigations, audits and risk assessments.
Excellent communication and influencing skills.

Experience within rail, engineering or another heavy industrial environment is desirable.
