Warehouse Operative / Warehouse Assistant
Location: York (approximately 10 minutes' walk from York Railway Station)
Salary: £26,500 per annum
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 10:00 am – 6:00 pm (including a paid 30-minute lunch break)

Due to continued growth, we are looking for a reliable, organised and hardworking Warehouse Operative / Warehouse Assistant to join our York-based team. The Role
As a Warehouse Operative / Warehouse Assistant, you will play an important role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of our warehouse operations.
This is a varied and hands-on position involving goods receiving, stock management, order fulfilment, dispatch, packaging preparation and general warehouse operations. You will work closely with colleagues across the business to ensure customer orders are processed accurately, stock is managed efficiently and high operational standards are maintained throughout the warehouse.
Key Responsibilities
Goods Receiving & Stock Management
- Receive, inspect and accurately record incoming deliveries.
- Check goods against delivery notes and purchase orders.
- Ensure stock is correctly stored and recorded within the warehouse management system.
- Follow stock rotation procedures and maintain accurate stock records.
- Investigate and report stock discrepancies, shortages or damaged goods.
- Assist with stock counts and periodic stock-taking activities.
Order Fulfilment & Dispatch
- Pick, pack and dispatch customer orders accurately and efficiently.
- Ensure all customer orders meet quality and accuracy standards before dispatch.
- Consolidate delivery notes, purchase orders and shipping documentation.
- Liaise with colleagues to resolve stock shortages, discrepancies and delayed orders.
- Prepare products and internal production orders for packaging and dispatch.
Warehouse Operations
- Load and unload deliveries safely and efficiently.
- Operate warehouse equipment and machinery, including container labelling and laser batch-coding equipment.
- Assist with preparing products for production and packaging activities.
- Ensure warehouse areas remain organised, clean and safe at all times.
- Follow company procedures, Health & Safety requirements and safe working practices.
- Support continuous improvement of warehouse processes and procedures.
Teamwork & Communication
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across warehouse, customer service and administration teams.
- Communicate clearly and professionally when reporting issues or providing feedback.
- Follow detailed instructions and procedures accurately.
- Contribute positively to a productive and supportive team environment.

Preferred Experience
- Previous warehouse, logistics, fulfilment or stock control experience.
- Experience using warehouse management systems.
- Experience with goods receiving, stock management, picking and packing.
- Experience working within a manufacturing, distribution or ecommerce environment.
A forklift truck licence would be advantageous but is not essential, as full training will be provided for the right candidate.
Please note that manual handling is required as part of this role and may involve lifting items weighing up to 25kg.
