Salary
£40,000 leading to £45,000 on full appointment
Working Hours
37 hrs/week, Annualised hours basis, includes regular evening, weekend and bank holidays

What you’ll do
Your job is to run the daily operations of the business & help develop the Elan Valley Lodge as a leading Activity & Centre. You will be delivering exceptional customer experience through effective management of the 5* Activity Centre accommodation and venue, together with land and water-based activities, ensuring a high standard of health and safety at all times. The Lodge is open 7 days a week throughout the year and you will be expected to work evenings and weekends as part of the operational team depending upon the requirement of the client bookings
What you will be responsible for
1. To be responsible of the daily operations of the Elan Valley Lodge
2. Ensuring a consistently high quality visitor experience through the effective management of water and land based activities, and development of commercial activities, balancing our access, recreation, conservation and education responsibilities.
3. Leadership and management of a team of highly motivated permanent and seasonal employees and volunteers to achieve KPIs & deliver exceptional customer service.
4. Managing Health and Safety in line with company procedures (for both internal and external customers)
5. Developing and implementing strategic plans to support the health and wellbeing agenda and maximise the use of the Activities at the Centre by key user groups in accordance with company corporate and business plans.
6. Developing high quality activities, events and training programmes to grow visitors and revenue; and delivery in line with budget.
7. Producing and interpreting weekly visitor and trading information for management and organisational reporting purposes.
8. Supporting & contributing to the delivery of a marketing communications plan using a range of media to grow awareness, drive footfall and commercial revenue streams.
9. As site representative, developing and building positive existing and new relationships internally within the company and externally with key sporting partners and organisations.

12. Ensuring as a business we are compliant through training and development, legislation and that we meet our social and corporate responsibilities & companywide procedures.
13. Securing such grant funding as may be available to offset costs, further develop the recreational facilities and enhance biodiversity.
14. A willingness to work unsocial hours and regular weekends and bank holidays is essential.
15. A full driving licence for this role is required.
16. Carrying out any other duties as required to meet business needs

About you
Qualifications
A high level NGB specific to the activities of the centre
Additional National Governing Body (NGB) instructor qualification in other land or watersports discipline.
RYA Powerboat Level 2 qualification
Current First Aid Certificate with Outdoor first aid
Experience
Line managing, leading and motivating a team
Managing and implementing health & safety records and procedures
Experience of delivering activities to individuals and groups of different ages and abilities
Managing staff working hours and absence, including creating staff rota’s to ensure continuous activity provision and Standard Operating Procedure requirements are met.

Post is subject to 3 months probation and full DBS check confirmation.
This post is a permanent post to take over from the existing centre manager who retires in October, allowing a transition handover period to ensure continuity and full operational induction prior to assuming full management responsibilities.
