Junior Ensemble Director & Administrative Assistant

Location: Oxshott, Surrey (35 minutes from London Waterloo)
Hours: Saturdays 9:00am–12:00pm, plus 3 hours of remote administrative support per week
Contract Type: Part-Time
Salary: £17 per hour

Phased start date: 3rd of August (remote only & flexible)

Official start date: 7th of September

About Theatretrain Oxshott

Theatretrain Oxshott is a thriving performing arts school dedicated to inspiring and developing young people through singing, dancing, and acting. We provide a fun, supportive, and professional environment where students build confidence, creativity, and performance skills.

We are seeking a highly organised, enthusiastic, and proactive Junior Ensemble Director & Administrative Assistant to join our growing team. This unique role combines performing arts education, administration, customer service, and social media content creation, making it an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop a career within the arts, education, or creative industries.

The Role

As Junior Ensemble Director & Administrative Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the smooth operation of Theatretrain Oxshott both in person on Saturdays and remotely during the week.

You will help deliver an outstanding experience for our students and parents while supporting our teaching team and company directors - and helping us grow our social media presence.

Key Responsibilities

Student & Class Support

Plan and deliver our Mini's classes (ages 4–6) in musical theatre on Saturdays for 1.5 hours
Assist teachers during classes and help maintain a positive learning environment.
Build strong relationships with students and encourage participation and confidence.
Support classroom management and student engagement.

Front of House & Operations

Assist with welcoming students and parents each Saturday morning.
Provide general operational support throughout the Saturday (or remotely prior for any adhoc assistance on logistics and coordination.

Social Media & Content Creation

Capture high-quality behind-the-scenes photos and videos during classes.
Create engaging content for TikTok, Instagram Reels, Facebook, and other social platforms and work with the social media marketing manager to build and organise a content library for our Social Media Manager.
Collaborate with our social media marketing manager to contribute creative ideas to support student recruitment and community engagement.

Administration

Provide approximately three hours of remote administrative support per week.
Assist with parent communications and enquiries.
Support with lead support - emailing and contacting new potential clients.
Help maintain organised systems and documentation.

About You

We're looking for someone who is:

Passionate about performing arts and working with children of all ages.
Friendly, professional, and approachable.
Highly organised and dependable.
Comfortable interacting with parents and young people.
Creative and confident using social media platforms.
Able to work independently and take initiative.
A strong communicator with excellent attention to detail.
Candidate needs to have some experience or background in performing arts and or musical theatre (any discipline).
Candidate needs to have an Enhanced DBS or be willing to obtain one.

Desirable Experience

While not essential, we'd love to hear from candidates with experience in:

Performing arts education.
Drama, musical theatre, dance, or singing.
Teaching assistant or youth work roles.
Social media content creation using phone.
Administration or customer service.
