I joined Ivolve in 2023 and initially had a very positive experience. The culture felt energised, leadership was visible and staff recognition was a genuine strength.

Over time, that culture shifted. In three years I had six different line managers and our team moved departments twice. There has also been significant turnover at Registered Manager, Area Manager and senior leadership level. This constant change created uncertainty and made long term stability feel unlikely.

Leadership experience has been inconsistent. While some managers are supportive and professional, others demonstrate behaviours that feel dismissive, defensive or unnecessarily confrontational. In my experience, challenge is not always welcomed and feedback can be poorly handled. This creates an environment where staff may feel undervalued rather than supported.

Two strong managers left during my time, which felt like a real loss to the organisation. Retention of capable leaders does not appear to be a priority, and the pattern of turnover raises concerns about internal culture.

Communication is inconsistent and often depends on whether your manager chooses to share information. Cross departmental working, particularly between PBS and L&D, can feel misaligned, leaving trainers questioned on their purpose and caught between expectations.

Recognition initiatives that were once a strength have noticeably reduced. Some training sessions and courses feel compliance driven rather than genuinely developmental, reinforcing a tick box culture.

The strongest part of the organisation remains its frontline teams. Support workers and home managers continue to work incredibly hard to deliver quality care despite ongoing structural and leadership challenges.

There is potential within the organisation, but without greater leadership stability, improved retention and a more consistent and respectful management culture, it will be difficult to rebuild staff confidence.

A typical day at work: A typical day usually involves providing patient care, assisting with daily activities, and ensuring the well-being of individuals under my care. I collaborate with colleagues, communicate with families, and follow care plans while adjusting for any changes. Each day is dynamic, with new challenges that require quick thinking and adaptability.
	•	What you believe you learned: I’ve learned how to effectively manage time, prioritize tasks, and adapt care plans based on individual needs. I’ve also gained a deeper understanding of various medical conditions and the importance of empathy and communication in a healthcare setting. It has enhanced my ability to handle stress and be more resourceful in dealing with unexpected situations.
	•	Management: The management in my workplace has been supportive, providing clear instructions and guidance. There is always an open line of communication, which is crucial for addressing any concerns or seeking advice. However, like any healthcare environment, there’s always room for improvement in terms of resources and staff support.
	•	Workplace culture: The workplace culture tends to be supportive and collaborative, with a focus on teamwork and compassion. Everyone is committed to delivering quality care, and there is a shared understanding of the importance of maintaining a positive and respectful environment. The culture fosters inclusivity, where each team member is valued for their contributions.
	•	The hardest part of the job: The hardest part of the job can be managing the emotional and physical demands of caring for individuals with complex needs. It can be challenging to deal with the emotional toll that comes with working in a healthcare setting, especially when dealing with loss or difficult situations.
	•	The most enjoyable part of the job: The most enjoyable part is the satisfaction that comes from making a positive impact on someone’s life. Building strong relationships with patients and their families and seeing progress in their care is incredibly rewarding. The teamwork and camaraderie with colleagues also make the work environment fulfilling.

Used to love working here putting my heart and soul into my job and helping the service users.

Until the company was taken over by a new company and it all turned and I dreaded going to work every single day, with unsupportive management, no professional or personal boundaries throughout, no consequences for staff who did not do their job, so the people who actually do their jobs properly had to then do everyone else’s job for them, and get absolutely no gratitude, respect or recognition for it. 

Staff hardly even turn up for shifts so you are expected to stay even if it’s 24 hours… just absolutely no consideration or care for the staffs well being. 

Don't waste your breath raising any concerns because they are just ignored, then you are seen as the problem if you are trying to fight for what is right. 

 If you have a voice and have opinions and stick up for yourself they don’t like it. 

Massive high staff turn over because it will never change no matter who comes in, good staff including managers who actually want the best for the staff and service users all leave because of the way nothing is ever dealt with anything you raise is just brushed under the carpet and forgotten about. 

The only good thing about the job that makes it worth it is the amazing service users you will get to know and support, but unfortunately they are also let down by the company. 

It’s like a school playground staff including management gossiping and spreading malicious rumours based on other peoples disability’s and relationship preferences. 

It’s supposed to be a mental health service but yet do not care about people’s mental health, majority of the staff are just in it for the pay check at the end of every month. 

Company accepts staff that are on sponsorship, that know absolutely nothing about the job role, and will openly admit that they don’t care about the service users and are just in the job to stay in the country! 

If you value your mental health and self respect I really would not work here. 


I started as a support worker formally known as Heathcotes prior to Ivolve taking over, comparing the difference between the two is astronomical, Ivolve are trying to be better, progressing into current times and care a lot more for their employees. As now a deputy manager I can say I tell people with pride I work for Ivolve and my progression journey has been great. A very low salary for the title and work I do, as it can be challenging and incredibly fast paced, but no one goes into care for the money. Nevertheless, the benefits are brilliant such as weekly lotto, scratch cards and the blue light card.  I’ve learnt a lot and had a lot of time spent learning new ways of working and have definitely made an impact whilst I’ve been there. The job satisfaction for me personally is of a high level; I enjoy working with the people we support the most and the colleagues at our homes, I had a brilliant registered manager show me everything, trained me and got me onto my management course to shape me into a good service manager when I progress further, and the management team influenced me to progress by building up my confidence even when I believed I couldn’t and wasn’t ready, fast forward a year I couldn’t imagine being or doing anywhere else. As Ivolve, the support from other teams in HQ very helpful and supportive. At Ivolve there is a good standard of communication through the use of different sites and networks (connect) where we can share success stories and see what other homes do from day to day. 
 I’d say the only con is a deputy managers’ salary, I do believe deputy managers are deserving of a salary increase. 

I must thank the organisation by writing a review. Ivolve identifies the potential in people at the right time to get the best among the best. It is a great place to work. Honestly speaking the trainings is always update to-date. You learn every day and progress in all aspects while you work in Ivolve. The system, people are in place to guide you through the journey.
Emphasizing the fact that all resources are in place to provide a good care to the people we support.
One thing I want to mention to the people who are looking towards care and support work. If you are passionate, kind and resilient this is the best place to work.
You can ivolve throughout your life and it's not only the support worker, managerial roles, IT roles, positive behaviour support roles. The organisation is extremely big and really if one is determined. One could reach the goal.
So I have started myself as an agency, support worker and now as Team leader with in a span of one year. Still am learning, growing only because I have the opportunity in Ivolve.
When you get things wrong just follow the policies and procedures that's my strong recommendation

Do not go by gossips around. Always there is a solution for problem. And People in the team and higher management always listens to us and takes the right decision.






 

I worked at Ivolve for a number of years and experienced both the highs and the lows of the company. I remained resilient throughout many challenges, however in 2025 the working environment significantly declined.

While I believe the intentions behind the changes were good, the execution failed. From the beginning of 2025 there were too many systems introduced, excessive company-created deadlines, and numerous meetings that often felt unnecessary. The workload became overwhelming across all levels, from support workers to functional leaders, and this was a constant topic of concern.

As an Area Manager, you are placed directly in the middle, carrying the weight of unhappy homes while also absorbing pressure from above. It became emotionally draining, particularly when trying to keep morale up and reassure teams that things would improve, when in reality they continued to worsen.

This is reflected in the number of long-term, high-performing staff who left the company in 2025; many of whom had been with Ivolve for years. While most senior leaders are good people with positive intentions, several situations were handled in underhand ways, which negatively impacted trust and culture.

Unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommend the company. It’s not worth your own mental wellbeing. 

Many people can be put off working in adult social care in general, shifts are not friendly to those with families and are generally long. I'll start off with the negatives, which I do believe reflect most jobs of this nature. You're severely underpaid sadly, especially for the work you do. Some days you'll feel like the people are not thankful for you coming in, and the people you work with can make it all the more difficult since they are as tired and cranky as you. I worked in three of the services Ivolve own (One in Nottingham, and Two in Wakefield) and I can truthfully say, it is highly dependent on the type of management you have, as to how you'll cope with the day to day stresses of the work. 

Workplace culture, it can be once again dependent on management, especially if you have mental health as well or autism yourself etc. I was fortunately handled very well in my case, and they were able to transfer me to a service much more able to gain an impact from my capabilities. I was able to study my level 3 before I chose to leave, and found to make lovely work friendships and professional relationships with the residents.

Working in this role has helped me improve professionally and personally. Every day at work can be different depending on the needs and behaviours of the service users, which has helped me become more adaptable, patient, and confident in handling challenging situations. I have gained more skills, knowledge, and practical experience in supporting individuals with different needs while maintaining professionalism and person-centred care.

I believe I have learned the importance of communication, teamwork, emotional resilience, and remaining calm under pressure. The management team has provided guidance and support when needed, although stronger communication between staff and management can further improve the working environment.

My experience at ivolve has been inconsistent and at times uncomfortable. 

Despite the outward messaging around inclusion and development, in practice it has often felt like if you don't naturally fit into certain internal dynamics you can be sidelined or treated differently. There have been moments where I felt singled out and held solely responsible for issues rather than problems being handled fairly or collectively. 

Whilst the company talks a lot about development opportunities  the reality has often felt uneven. Some people seem to be given access to growth, exposure and progression much earlier than others and it doesn't always feel clearly linked to performance. That inconsistency can be frustrating and demotivating. 

Team culture can also feel unstable at times, with relationships and attitudes shifting quickly depending on situations which makes it difficult to feel secure and supported long term. 

Overall there is a noticeable gap between how the company presents itself and how things can feel day to day if you are not well integrated into the right circles.
