Each day of support is different but guaranteed to be full of smiles, learning and joy. The service users are a breath of fresh air, I looked forward to supporting them. I learned a lot of things during my time at Quarriers, from learning new skills, attending courses to gain knowledge. Learning from fellow colleagues and also learning even from the service users! There’s always room for growth and improvement. Management was mostly great, nothing personal everyone is different and has different opinions but mostly supported by management. The hardest part of the job for myself I’d say was to find a work/personal life balance, however when I opened up and expressed how I was struggling with personal issues and finding that balance I was positively supported and my shifts/contract were adapted. Colleagues were also amazing! I gained positive professional relationships, genuine employees that were happy to give a hand, to offer advice and support during shifts too. The most enjoyable part of the job for me was building positive and professional relationships with the service users. The role is more than just supporting, encouraging service users to get involved with their ideas and opinions. General smiles and laughs throughout the day from service users telling jokes, to joining in with activities they enjoy. Seeing their smiles when supporting them socially or simply listening to their favourite song. I built so much confidence within my role and there is so much positivity revolving the service users that it’s impossible to write it all. Such a joyful and rewarding job, if it wasn’t for my own personal and unforeseen circumstance I would still be within the role now!

Shocking  management as they leave everything to one person, old staff taking responsibility for new staff, no support from team leader or high up management.  Leaving it to last minute, they don't have a clue what they are doing and leave the rest of the staff to pick up the mess, no direction, no support or no appreciation.  

Management should practise what they preach, telling us what to do but not actually showing us telling and implementing are two different things.  Management will speak about a staff members openly to other staff, so unprofessional and others through emails, sending myself finical information about someone I support which is disgraceful through my work email.  

Very unprofessional. Management need training on how to be leaders, management and actually know how to do there job, god help them when someone applies for a job in there who actually does there work, I just find it odd all management are all live and have the same pals outside of work.  

Only a couple of the Family wellbeing workers are nice and supportive, I can’t fault the families I support and person we look after.  

No communication between management and staff. The company can't admit or apologise when they are wrong.  Management always wrong, and support staff going out there way. 

This has got to be the most incompetent company I have ever came across. 

I would give this company a pass, I would never use them ever!!!

Working a continuous rolling rota of early, back, and nightshift a day in residential care was always different but challenging. It could start, like any household by getting the children up and out to school, making their tea to settling them at bed time.
I very quickly learned to expect the unexpected an adapt myself to deal with any given situation. This usually involved dealing with difficult behaviour(extreme) to managing the complex dynamics of group living.
My co-workers had varied experience some of them requiring a lot of support provided by myself and other experienced staff.
One of the most difficult parts of the job was trying to assist the managers in ways to improve the service supplied to the clients as it was deemed that they were right. 
The most enjoyable part of the job and the most satisfying is when a young person left care, moved into their own flat and looking after themselves. I have had contact from a number of past clients who are now married, have their own family and a settled life. Others have also contacted me thanking me for advice given and are now in further education.

Primarily, my role is to support vulnerable and disadvantaged people. In my current role I support one service user who has learning difficulties and mental health problems. My role involves all personal care for the service user, administering medication, attending medical appointments and financial record keeping. Wherever possible I encourage the service user to be independent.  This enables the service user to have a level of control in their life whilst permitting them to make informed choices. In doing so I adhere to the rights of the service user whilst ensuring their choices and behaviour does not cause harm to themselves or others. As part of my role I participate in supervision on a regular basis. This enables my supervisor and me to discuss policies and risk assessments which are in place and identify any potential hazards that may have arisen. If any risks are identified this may lead to the implementation of new risk assessment specific to the service user whom I support.

Loved my job and loved working with some lovely service users. Sometimes a very challenging job. Most of the staff I worked with were amazing people who like myself really cared about the service users and put our hearts into our work.  The management were a different breed altogether. They don’t listen to staff enough or at all. The office staff were openly talking about staff in front of other staff members which was so unprofessional and made you learn not to trust them. Any complaints or concerns about other staff were swept under the carpet due to staff shortages. The care commission would have a field day if they only knew. Parents and families of service users were having to fight to get the basic needs met of their loved ones. Listen to staff, parents and families please.  Sitting in an office knowing all the guidelines and saying all the right things does not make you a good supervisor/manager. Listening to ground level staff and putting things into action are what makes a good supervisor/manager.

Some fantastic staff I have worked with, but some will stab you in the back. Too much paperwork and it's duplicated on their Intranet, expected to keep everything up to date and do keyworker duties. People you support can attack you and there's no back-up from Management, they don't care about you. Your required to pay SSSC fees to work at your Job. Always short staffed and you feel pressured into doing overtime to help out. Only a 4 week rota and it's never consistent always last minute changes which they don't notify you about, expected to check rota whenever you come on shift, if team leader goes off sick no one from management picks up that some staff may only have 1 or 2 weeks rota.  You never know what your working in the months ahead  and would be better for all staff to have a rolling rota and they could plan family time ahead.  The experience of working here has put me off working in care again. 

Since my last review was removed and I can't see why because what I wrote was 100% true, i will write a second one.

Management should practise what they preach, it's all very well preaching to staff that they should't be speaking about workloads etc to other staff, but yet you will speak about a staff members and others through emails then accidentally send the email to one of the persons you were speaking about?! Very unprofessional. Management need training on how to be managers.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The incompetent so called managers/bully's so sweet to your face but will never hesitate to throw you under the bus. Only out for themselves don't even know the names of the service users. Toxic 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Toxic management, rude intimidating lazy haven't got a clue.  Cliques  bullying like being at school again people who will make you look stupid at the drop of a hat.  Exiling you in the workplace. Nasty lot the management lackeys

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Everyday same as previous comments they're actually not even worth a survey and definitely not North Lanarkshire or east Dunbartonshire

worked for the company for 9 years was fine at first until I received a nomination for a  Quarriers award. Other staff members were jealous, a staff member made up a story about me and after the investigation I was sacked. I was also reported to the SSSC but they said to me I was still fit to practice. Watch your back if you speak out about anything you wont be there long. Team leaders don't support you its too much hassle for them.When you report other Staff members abusing clients they say to you I will deal with it but that's the last you hear anything about it caring staff get hassle ones that don't care get all the praise. New members of staff working in projects without doing the proper training. Some staff members enjoy spending the service users money spending £100 per week on groceries to support 1 person.

shifts can be long sometimes you have to work alone. The majority services are straight forward to work at nothing difficult. Training is provided on a regular basis. What I found very challenging is  the amount of nit-picking going on in services. You work a long day then they have a go at you for  missing to wipe a bit of dust or for leaving a box blank. Before you know it the management will be sending you stuff to sign that you are not doing your job properly and you need to be more clean etc to show off they are good at their jobs at your expense. Some managers are female oriented and they prefer to work with females only. No diversity if you are bit different then you get treated different. Service users and their families are very nice to work with. Really needs a lot of improvement. I'm glad I left
