I joined Cedar full time after 6 months of working at one of their facilities as agency staff. Having worked in over 15 different homes and supported living facilities through the agency, I found Cedar to be one of the most supportive companies that I had encountered. The staff on-site were friendly and helpful. They all really care for the residents and give them as many opportunities to participate in activities and the local community as possible. There are plenty of advancement and training opportunities, the management is easily approachable and always there for the staff. The benefits are great too, having private health care has really helped me recently! 

The only downside is the long days, but that's to be expected in most health care settings!

I love the place!

The service users are incredible people with individual stories, preferences and needs. The job satisfaction from supporting these individuals is incredible, but we shouldn't be paid the same as someone working in retail for completing this work, due to the risk that comes with the job. Management is poor and policies are unclear throughout the company. Healthcare is becoming a place where the care assistant/employee/support worker needs to be stone cold and uncaring (ironically) just to survive in a position, which is terrifying. I loved the work I do, but the lack of support was incredible and the main reason I am not in this job today.

Some staff where not fit enough for the job , so workload of care was shoved onto others, Not a fair environment on staff, bullying and toxic, Management picked favourites aswell and made some staff do the "dirty" work some team leads would rather sit all night and day and drink coffee and do nothing to help.
Nightstaff tended to be treated more horribly than day staff.
Day staff often arrived late to let nightstaff leave or left the place in a mess and didnt fulfill some care duties.

Some fantastic staff, however the good and long term ones are leaving fast.
You are left with a bunch of lazy bums who can't or won't do their jobs.
Management, although some are nice, are conformed and will use you if you are good and care. They will gladly put you in very dangerous and harmful situations on a regular basis in order to make it easier for themselves.
Cedars is corrupt from the top down.

In my role I work Monday to Friday (most staff work part time). The role is varied and no two days are the same. I support vulnerable people in the community & you meet some lovely people. Management are the most supportive, encouraging people I have ever met. My colleagues are more like family & everyone supports each other.

Demanding and challenging at times, with extra stress and harassment at times to come in on days off and stay behind allocated shift times. Not a lot of career progression and the management could be unapproachable. Pay is awful for the nature of the job, and what is expected of an employee. 

Job is highly rewarding and fellow staff very friendly.

Very disorganised company. 
False advertising of job role and salary - Bullied and intimidated by management to change base location within 2 months of starring role as Cedar made contractual error. Travel expenses withheld.  Unpaid for travel time to see clients.  Kept on probationary contract until agreed to their new terms and conditions. Complete change of job role and location to that contracted for.  BULLIES!

Hours are very unreliable , pay is very poor and they are a very unorganised branch. They even cancelled some shifts when I had been told I was going to work for them. Not only this some of the shifts they would have could be based way outside towards Lisburn and they expect you to travel there yourself without covering your milege cost. Overall, not worth it.

Interesting and varied work each day with opportunities to develop and grow as a practitioner while assisting service users to grow their life skills and gain increased confidence and independence.  Supportive leadership and regular relevant training and opportunities to develop in chosen career.

Totally unreliable for hours, they leave you in the dark about when you will get work and where you will get work. Not only that when you receive work it’s mostly based far away in the likes of Omagh and Lisburn. Cedar then expect you to travel to these places without covering your mileage costs. Don’t work for these people if you need income.
