Job Introduction
We are seeking an experienced and proactive BMS Manager to lead the management and optimisation of the Building Management System (BMS) across Queen's Hospital. Reporting directly to the Head of Estates, you will play a critical role in delivering a reliable and compliant technical engineering service that supports the continuous operation of essential hospital services.
What You'll Do:

Take full responsibility for the management, operation and optimisation of the hospital's Building Management System (BMS).

Monitor plant performance and environmental conditions to ensure continuity of critical healthcare services.

Provide specialist technical expertise in BMS programming, configuration, commissioning, maintenance and fault diagnosis.

Lead system performance monitoring, trend analysis and alarm management activities to identify improvement opportunities.

Support statutory compliance requirements and ensure adherence to relevant Health Technical Memoranda (HTMs) and industry regulations.

Drive energy optimisation initiatives through effective use of building controls and system data.

Manage system integration activities and maintain accurate technical documentation and data records.

Produce regular performance reports, including weekly, monthly and annual updates.

Build and maintain strong working relationships with NHS Trust representatives, Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) teams, Sodexo stakeholders and service partners.

Support contract management activities and ensure contractual and KPI requirements are delivered within agreed timescales.

Promote innovation, continuous improvement and best practice across the Estates function.
What You Bring:
-
Minimum of 5 years' experience working within Building Management Systems, controls or building automation environments.
-
Strong technical knowledge of HVAC systems, controls engineering, electrical systems and electronic engineering.
-
Experience working with leading BMS platforms such as Trend, Metasys or Schneider Electric systems.
-
Knowledge of communication protocols including BACnet, Modbus and LonWorks.

Relevant engineering qualifications such as HNC/HND in Mechanical, Electrical or Building Services Engineering, City & Guilds qualifications, BCIA certification, or equivalent manufacturer training.

Ability to interpret engineering schematics and provide technical guidance to operational teams.

Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced operational environment.

Strong stakeholder management and customer-focused communication skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word.

A collaborative leadership style with a focus on service quality, compliance and continuous improvement.

Ability to successfully complete DBS and Occupational Health requirements.
Desirable
-
Previous experience working within a PFI Hard FM contract environment.
-
Experience managing stakeholder relationships within healthcare or critical infrastructure settings.
