Job Overview

We are currently looking for a dedicated and reliable Bookkeeper to join our growing team. This role goes beyond day-to-day bookkeeping — you'll take the lead on managing our outsourced bookkeeping team and drive the use of AI and automation across our bookkeeping function, helping both our internal team and our clients set up bookkeeping systems that are as simple and efficient as possible. We have a strong team and are dedicated to finding the right people to maintain our strong company values.

Key Responsibilities

Team & Outsourcing Management

Manage and oversee our outsourced bookkeeping team, ensuring quality, consistency, and turnaround times are maintained as we grow.
Act as the main point of contact between the outsourced team and the firm, coordinating workflow and resolving issues.

AI & Automation

Identify and implement AI and automation tools to streamline bookkeeping processes, both internally and for clients.
Help clients set up their bookkeeping using AI-driven tools and workflows, making the process as easy and low-effort as possible for them.
Keep up to date with developments in bookkeeping technology and champion best practice across the team.

Core Bookkeeping

Regularly maintain and update financial records.
Utilise Xero software to manage financial transactions, posting debits and credits, producing invoices, etc.
Conduct Xero training for clients
Conduct regular reconciliation of accounts, including control accounts, to ensure accuracy.
Aid in the preparation of financial reports.
Ensure compliance with organisational financial policies and procedures.
Completing VAT returns for clients.
An understanding of payroll would be desirable but not essential.

Client & Team Collaboration

Develop and maintain positive relationships with clients, providing exceptional customer service.
Assist in identifying opportunities to help our clients grow their businesses.
A genuine interest in helping SMEs grow, beyond just keeping the books.
Collaborate with our team to work towards the company's financial goals.

Key Qualifications and Skills

Proven bookkeeping experience, ideally including experience managing or supervising others (in-house or outsourced).
Ideally a high proficiency in using Xero software.
Interest in, or experience with, AI and automation tools relevant to bookkeeping/accounting.
Ideally AAT qualified up to level 3.
Genuine interest in the SME sector and helping small businesses grow.
Very strong computer skills.
Strong understanding of business and accounting principles, laws, and regulations.
Excellent leadership, organisational, and delegation skills.
Excellent customer service skills.
Ability to multitask, prioritise, and manage time efficiently.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and lead a team.
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
