Job Overview

GP Surgery Administrator / Receptionist at Saltdean Medical Practice

Hours

07.45-18.00 - 4 days per week.

About the Role

We are looking for a friendly, organised, and reliable Administrator/Receptionist to join our busy GP surgery team. This is a patient-facing role that combines front desk reception duties with administrative responsibilities, helping to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the practice.The successful candidate will be the first point of contact for our patients, providing a welcoming and professional service both in person and over the telephone. As this role is predominantly based on reception and telephone work, excellent communication skills, a calm approach, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment are essential.

Key Responsibilities

Answer incoming telephone calls promptly and professionally.
Assist patients with booking, changing, and cancelling appointments.
Welcome patients at the reception desk and provide excellent customer service.
Respond to patient enquiries and direct them to the appropriate clinician or service.
Liaise with GPs, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to support the efficient running of the practice.
Undertake general administrative duties as required.
Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with GDPR and NHS policies.
Contribute to a positive, supportive, and professional team environment.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
A professional, friendly, and compassionate manner.
Strong organisational skills with good attention to detail.
Confidence using computers and learning new systems.
The ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure.
A flexible and proactive approach to work.
Previous reception, customer service, or administrative experience (experience within a GP surgery or healthcare setting is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided).
