Full job description

Start Your Engineering Career

Natural Environmental Engineering Ltd is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Mechanical Engineering Apprentice to join our growing engineering team.

This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience working on heavy industrial recycling machinery while studying towards a recognised engineering qualification.

The successful candidate will receive practical, on-the-job training from experienced engineers while attending college one day per week (fully paid) to complete their apprenticeship qualification.

No previous industry experience is required—just a genuine interest in engineering, a positive attitude and a willingness to learn.

The Role

Working alongside experienced engineers in our workshop and on customer sites, you will assist with:

Mechanical servicing and repairs.
Planned preventative maintenance.
Hydraulic repairs and fault finding.
Welding and fabrication.
Machine installations and commissioning.
Engine servicing and maintenance.
Workshop duties and equipment preparation.
Maintaining a clean, safe and organised working environment.
Completing electronic job sheets using our job management software.
Learning to communicate professionally with customers while working on site.

Essential Requirements

A genuine interest in mechanical engineering and learning a skilled trade.
Practical, hands-on approach with a willingness to develop new skills.
Reliable, punctual and hardworking.
Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
Good communication skills and the confidence to speak professionally with customers.
Basic IT skills and willingness to learn electronic job management software.
Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions from senior engineers.
Willingness to travel throughout the UK and occasionally stay away overnight when required.
Full UK driving licence or actively working towards obtaining one.

Desirable Skills

While not essential, experience or interest in any of the following would be advantageous:

Cars, motorcycles or diesel engines.
Welding or fabrication.
Agricultural, plant or commercial vehicles.
Heavy machinery or industrial equipment.
Mechanical hobbies.
