Nicolson O’Brien Solicitors is a long-established and highly respected legal firm with almost 40 years of experience serving clients across Lanarkshire. Known for our approachable team, modern systems, and high standards of client care, we continue to grow across multiple locations and legal sectors.

Following our recent expansion into Carluke through the takeover of Forrest, Campbell & Anderson, we are now looking to recruit an experienced Conveyancing Paralegal to join our growing team at our new Carluke office.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the business at an early stage of growth in the area, helping shape and develop the department while working alongside an established client base and experienced team.

The Role

We are seeking an organised, proactive, and client-focused Conveyancing Paralegal with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in residential conveyancing.

You will play a key role within the conveyancing department, assisting with the smooth handling of transactions from initial instruction through to completion. The role involves regular communication with clients, lenders, estate agents, and third parties while ensuring an excellent standard of service throughout the process.

Key Responsibilities

Managing residential conveyancing transactions from start to finish
Preparing and issuing written offers
Opening new files and issuing client care documentation
Liaising with clients, lenders, estate agents, and third parties
Managing diaries, correspondence, and case progression
Drafting legal documents and conveyancing paperwork
Completing LBTT returns and registrations with Registers of Scotland
Drafting discharges and dealing with post-settlement matters
Managing ledgers and financial transactions where required
Assisting fee earners and supporting the wider conveyancing team
Maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance procedures are followed
Delivering excellent client communication throughout the transaction process

What We’re Looking ForEssential:

Minimum 3 years’ conveyancing experience
Strong understanding of the Scottish conveyancing process
Excellent organisational and time-management skills
Ability to manage a busy workload and competing deadlines
Strong communication and client care skills
Professional and confident telephone manner
High attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Proficient in Microsoft Office systems

Desirable:

Experience using LawWare or similar case management systems
Experience handling transactions independently
Knowledge of Registers of Scotland processes and procedures
