Full-Time Nanny / Family Assistant (Live-out)

Job Description:

A private household near Newbury is looking for a warm, capable and proactive Nanny / Family Assistant to support their three children, aged 7, 5 and 4.

This is a full-time, term-time-only position, with the children at the heart of the role. The successful candidate will be someone who genuinely enjoys working with children, is organised and proactive, and is happy to take responsibility for both their day-to-day care and the practical organisation that comes with family life.

Key Responsibilities

The core childcare hours will be approximately 3pm–7pm, including:

Collecting the children from school.
Taking the children to after-school activities and organising their schedules.
Helping with homework and reading.
Planning and supervising age-appropriate activities and play.
Cooking and preparing meals and snacks for the children.
Supporting the children's evening routines.
Ensuring the children are happy, engaged and well cared for.

The earlier part of the day will focus on child-related Family Assistant duties, including:

Keeping children's bedrooms, toys and belongings organised and tidy.
Managing children's wardrobes, including putting clothes away, labelling items and ensuring school and activity clothing is organised.
Cleaning and maintaining school bags, sports kits, shoes and other children's belongings.
Keeping on top of children's paperwork, school communications and activity schedules.
Organising children's activities, appointments, parties and other commitments.
Preparing items needed for school, sports and activities.
Assisting with occasional light administration or errands for the Principals.
Helping with the family pets when required, including walking them and taking them to appointments.
Supporting the family with general organisation around the children's needs.

Flexibility with working hours may occasionally be required, particularly around children's activities, appointments and family commitments. Occasional weekend work/ support during school holidays may also be required.

The ideal candidate will be:

Warm, friendly and genuinely enjoys working with children.
Energetic and active, with the confidence to keep three children engaged and entertained.
Switched-on and capable of helping with homework and schoolwork.
Highly organised, proactive and able to take initiative.
Practical and happy to get involved with the day-to-day organisation of family life.
A confident driver with a minimum of 8 years' driving experience.
Reliable, discreet and professional.
Comfortable working flexibly and adapting to the family's changing needs.

Schedule

Monday – Friday, 10:30am – 7pm (40 hours per week)
Term-time only, approximately 33 weeks per year.
Salary: £20 - £23 per hour (DOE)

Previous nannying or childcare experience is beneficial, although we are open to candidates from a broader childcare or family-assistant background who have the right experience and personality.
