Full job description

Washway Road Medical Centre is a large, yet warm and welcoming GP surgery. We are looking for an efficient receptionist to join our team. For this vacancy the post holder must be available to work on a Friday. Exact shift pattern to be confirmed but to cover the practice opening hours from 8:00am until 19:00pm.

We welcome applications for those interested in a full-time post and those seeking part time hours (job share).

You will be part of a large, supportive and friendly team and will play a crucial role in providing exceptional customer service to patients. Your attention to detail, strong communication skills, and ability to multitask will contribute to the efficient functioning of the practice. You will need strong IT skills, remain calm under pressure, prepared to encounter difficult conversations with a can-do attitude. Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Greet and check-in patients upon arrival
- Schedule and confirm appointments in person, over the telephone or via e-consult tools
- Collect and update patient information, register patients and code health care information
- Answer phone calls and respond to a wide range of queries, directing patients to the most appropriate service

- Assist with medication requests and questions

- Scanning and filing of clinical correspondence
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the reception area
- Collaborate with wider clinical team to ensure smooth patient flow

- Other practice administration duties such as SARS, registrations, deductions, support referrals and coding and routine recall

Requirements:
- Previous experience in customer facing role preferred
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong attention to detail and organisational abilities
- Proficiency in computer systems and software
- Knowledge of medical terminology, or previous GP Surgery experience is a plus
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion

The exact shift pattern is upon offer but Wednesday and Friday shift pattern is essential. o

Pay: £12.75-£13.51 per hour

GCSE or equivalent (preferred)
