Full job description

Location

This role involves working across a number of sites in Hampshire, primarily in the Fareham and Bishops Waltham areas. You will travel between locations using a company van, carrying out a variety of grounds maintenance, gardening and general property maintenance duties.

Working Hours

Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm.

Some flexibility may be required to respond to seasonal maintenance requirements, emergency repairs or adverse weather conditions.

There is salary flexibility for the right candidate.

Role Overview

We are looking for a practical, reliable and proactive Estate Maintenance and Groundskeeper to help maintain a number of sites across Hampshire. The role is predominantly focused on grounds maintenance and estate upkeep, with additional responsibilities for general property maintenance where required.

This is a varied, hands on role that requires someone who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in maintaining high standards and is confident carrying out a wide range of gardening, landscaping and maintenance tasks. You will be responsible for ensuring all sites remain safe, tidy, well maintained and presented to a high standard throughout the year.

Key Responsibilities

Grass cutting, strimming, edging, hedge trimming and general lawn care.
Planting, pruning, weeding, watering and maintaining flower beds, borders, shrubs and trees.
Seasonal planting and maintaining landscaped areas throughout the year.
Keeping roads, pathways, car parks and communal areas clean through sweeping, litter picking, leaf clearance, moss removal and weed control.
Carrying out general grounds maintenance to ensure all outdoor areas remain safe, attractive and well maintained.
Cleaning and maintaining company and private vehicles to a high standard.
Carrying out general property maintenance including minor repairs, replacing locks, toilet repairs, changing light fittings, clearing gutters, drains and gullies, investigating leaks and maintaining external fixtures.
Completing routine site inspections, meter readings, weekly fire alarm testing and reporting maintenance issues.
Installing and maintaining site signage, programming barrier fobs and assisting contractors with site access where required.
Responding to seasonal maintenance requirements including gritting, snow clearance and storm damage inspections.
Supporting the day to day maintenance and smooth operation of all sites and undertaking any other reasonable duties as required.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have experience in grounds maintenance, gardening or general property maintenance and be confident using grounds maintenance equipment, machinery and hand tools.

You will be practical, hardworking and capable of working independently with minimal supervision. A keen eye for detail, good problem solving skills and the ability to manage a varied workload are essential.

A full UK driving licence is required.

Health & Safety

The successful candidate is expected to work in accordance with all company health and safety policies and procedures, wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), operate machinery and tools safely, and report any hazards or safety concerns promptly.

Physical Requirements

This is a physically active role requiring regular lifting, bending, manual handling, operating machinery and working outdoors in all weather conditions throughout the year. Occasional wor king at heightmay also be required.

Flexibility

Due to the varied nature of the business, the post holder will be expected to undertake other reasonable duties consistent with the role as directed by management. Flexibility and a willingness to support different sites and projects are essential.
