Full job description

Would you like to join a vibrant and supportive research community?

We are seeking a motivated and proactive Research Administrator to join the Community and Primary Care Research Centre (CPCRC) at the University of Plymouth, where you will play a central role in supporting innovative research and work alongside researchers, clinicians, people with lived experience, and community partners to deliver meaningful impact.

About the role:

As a key member of the Professional Services team, you will help support the day-to-day operation of the research centre, acting as a visible, approachable, and reliable first point of contact for colleagues, visitors, and stakeholders. You will contribute to the smooth running of Centre activities by delivering a responsive, customer-focused, and efficient administrative support service.

This is a varied and rewarding role that offers the opportunity to work across a wide range of activities.

You will:

Support the organisation of meetings, events, and workshops; coordinate travel and logistics.
Manage shared inboxes and enquiries.
Provide administrative support for research projects and funding applications.
Help maintain accurate records, prepare documentation.
Contribute to the delivery of research that makes a positive difference to communities, health services, and people with lived experience.

For this role, you will need to be on site 4 days a week. Although we can accommodate working from home for this role, flexibility to be on-site will be expected due to business needs. This role requires in-person attendance in the office from Monday to Thursday, with remote working on Fridays.

This position is offered on a full-time basis (37 hours per week) on a fixed-term contract for 12 months in the first instance due to funding.

What we’re looking for:

Organised, enthusiastic, and proactive individual who enjoys working in a busy and collaborative environment.
You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive working relationships and manage a varied workload effectively.
You will be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team and will be able to prioritise competing demands while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
You will have strong IT skills and a commitment to providing excellent customer service, alongside a proactive and solutions-focused approach to supporting colleagues and contributing to the success of the Centre.
Experience of working in an administrative and customer-focused role is essential, while experience within a higher education, research, or healthcare environment would be advantageous.

You will be part of the Community and Primary Care Research Centre (CPCRC) within the Faculty of Health, Peninsula Medical School which is a warm and growing research community focused on improving care through applied research that addresses the issues that matter most to people with lived experience, community services, and primary care. CPCRC enjoys strong connections across the University, a close partnership with the University of Exeter through the NIHR Applied Research Collaboration (ARC) South West, and established links with NHS Trusts, third-sector organisations, and the Health Innovation Network.
