Would you like to work for the charity that cares for hundreds of historic sites in every corner of England?

With 14 main garden sites and dedicated garden teams, we are looking for a Gardener to join our team at Brodsworth hall and Gardens. This is a fixed term one year contract. working hours 36 per week.

The multi award winning gardens of Brodsworth Hall are a classic example of 'Gardenesque' design from the mid19th century and are an integral part of the property. They are divided in to two distinct areas.

Around the hall, the formal gardens run from the woodland boundaries up towards the Summerhouse and dividing yew hedge, they reflect the Italianate formality of the hall itself and use a wide range of clipped evergreen planting, annual planting, topiary and terracing to achieve this Mediterranean effect. Within the formal garden are numerous pieces of statuary including figures, planted tazzas and the fountain at the centre of the Flower Garden.

The flower garden is designed twice per year and is planted with 24,000 bedding plants for summer and 24,000 and 7000 bulbs for spring.

The more informal part of the garden known as the Grove or Pleasure Grounds is located in the lower section of the gardens. This area is set in the base of an early 19th century quarry and contains features including the Fern Dell, Eye Catcher, Target House, Target Garden and Rose Garden. The Gardens continue to develop with the recently restored Privy Garden and Target garden the latest areas to be brought back to their full grandeur.

The gardens are an excellent example of Victorian 'pattern book' gardening with most of the original design and features still intact.

You will joining a great team of 7 full time gardeners and 50 garden volunteers.

As a Gardener, you'll play a vital role in ensuring our gardens are well maintained and presented wonderful places to spend time in. You'll contribute to bringing to life the stories that our gardens tell, helping visitors of all ages make new discoveries. What you'll be doing as part of the team.

The garden team at Brodsworth hall and gardens also maintain the gardens at Bolsover castle and Gainsborough old hall. You maybe required to join other team members in working at these sites.

We have a site pick up truck, which is used to travel to our satellite sites.

You will be qualified to at least NVQ level 2 standard in amenity horticulture. and have previous experience of working in a high-quality horticultural establishment. You will work to high standards and be effective and efficient when working on your own or as part of the wider team.
