We are looking for an experienced and commercially focused Senior Buyer to join our manufacturing team.
This is a key role within our supply chain function, responsible for sourcing and managing a diverse range of materials, components and services used in the manufacture of static caravans and holiday homes.
Working closely with Production, Engineering, Design, Quality and Finance, you will ensure we have the right materials, at the right quality, cost and time to support our production requirements.
We are looking for someone who combines strong commercial negotiation skills with a practical understanding of manufacturing and supply chain operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement purchasing strategies that deliver cost savings, supply security and improved supplier performance.
- Identify and deliver measurable cost-reduction and value-engineering opportunities without compromising quality or customer expectations.
- Build strong, long-term relationships with key suppliers while maintaining appropriate commercial challenge.
- Monitor supplier performance across cost, quality, delivery and service.
- Proactively identify supply-chain risks and develop appropriate contingency plans.
- Support inventory optimisation and help reduce excess and obsolete stock.
- Support and mentor other members of the purchasing team where appropriate.
- Significant buying or procurement experience within manufacturing.
- Experience at Senior Buyer, Category Buyer or similar level.
- A strong track record of supplier negotiation and delivering cost savings.
- Good understanding of manufacturing processes, material planning and supply-chain management.
- Experience managing multiple suppliers and purchasing categories.
- Strong commercial awareness and analytical skills.
- Confidence working with ERP/MRP systems and purchasing data.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder-management skills.
- A proactive approach to supplier development and problem-solving.
- The ability to balance cost, quality, availability and operational requirements.
We are looking for an experienced procurement professional who is comfortable operating in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
You will ideally have:
- Significant buying or procurement experience within manufacturing.
- Experience at Senior Buyer, Category Buyer or similar level.
- Good understanding of manufacturing processes, material planning and supply-chain management.
- Strong commercial awareness and analytical skills.
- Confidence working with ERP/MRP systems and purchasing data.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder-management skills.
- A proactive approach to supplier development and problem-solving.
Experience within static caravans, holiday homes, modular buildings, construction products, automotive, furniture or another high-volume manufacturing environment would be particularly advantageous.
CIPS qualifications are desirable but not essential where candidates can demonstrate strong relevant experience.
