Full job description

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Dog Kennel Assistant to join our team in providing exceptional care for our canine residents. This role involves maintaining a clean and safe environment, assisting with daily animal care routines, and ensuring the comfort and wellbeing of all dogs in our facility. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animals, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Previous veterinary experience or animal care qualifications are essential.

This is a part time role covering mainly Monday, Saturday, Sunday and any holiday cover.

Duties

Clean and disinfect kennels, communal areas, and equipment to uphold hygiene standards.
Feed and water dogs according to their individual dietary requirements.
Monitor dogs for signs of illness or distress and report any concerns to senior staff promptly.
Assist with exercise routines, including walking and enrichment of dogs within designated areas.
Administer medication or treatments as directed by veterinary professionals.
Provide attentive customer service to pet owners during drop-off and collection times.
Handle heavy lifting when necessary, such as moving supplies or large animals safely.
Maintain detailed records of each dog’s health status, behaviour, and daily activities.
Support team members with additional tasks as required to ensure smooth daily operations.

Experience

Previous canine kennel experience or background in animal care is mandatory.
Strong understanding of animal behaviour and welfare standards.
Excellent customer service skills with a friendly and professional demeanour.
Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently.
Organised with the ability to multitask effectively in a busy environment.
Passionate about animals with a genuine desire to contribute positively to their wellbeing.

This role offers an opportunity to work in a caring environment dedicated to animal health and happiness, with comprehensive training provided for all new team members.

Pay: From £13.00 per hour
