North Hertfordshire College is part of Hart Learning Group (HLG) and operates across three main campuses in Stevenage and Hitchin and includes business operations Hart Learning and Development (our Employer and Apprenticeship arm). As a college, we have over 650 staff and a turnover of circa £30m.

About the Role:

We are pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for a dynamic professional to join us as Quality Systems Officer. This is a new role at an incredibly exciting time for the College, as we embark on the launch of our new strategic plan. This plan sets a clear vision for our future and positions us at the forefront of educational excellence in North Hertfordshire.

This role sits at the heart of our quality provision, with a primary focus on the management, optimisation, and continuous improvement of student-facing quality systems, including but not limited to ProAchieve, ProMonitor (including Markbook), OneFile, ALPs Connect (value added), and Microsoft Teams.

The post holder will play a critical role in ensuring that these systems are effectively implemented and consistently used across curriculum areas, fully aligned to quality assurance processes and inspection frameworks and that they provide accurate, timely, and meaningful information to support teaching, learning, and assessment and student progress.

Job Purpose:

The Quality Systems Officer will lead on the effective management, utilisation, and continuous improvement of key quality and performance systems across the College. The role will ensure that systems such as ProAchieve, ProMonitor, OneFile, ALPs Connect, and Microsoft Teams are:

Accurately maintained
Consistently used
Fully aligned with quality assurance processes and expectations

The post will support curriculum and quality teams by:

Driving high standards of system compliance and data integrity
Monitoring performance through system-based indicators
Identifying risks, gaps, and inconsistencies in practice
Supporting interventions that improve learner progress, experience, and outcomes

This role combines systems leadership, quality assurance, and data-informed practice to support outstanding teaching, learning, and assessment.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities:

Act as the lead operational owner for student-facing quality systems including but not limited to ProAchieve, ProMonitor, OneFile, ALPs Connect and Microsoft Teams.
Ensure systems are configured, maintained and used effectively to support quality assurance processes including the integration of external quality systems.
Support the delivery of core quality assurance processes, ensuring systems underpin progress tracking, assessment and feedback, reviews and target setting and performance monitoring.
Promote consistent and high-quality use of systems across all curriculum areas.
To liaise with the MIS, Student Records, Exams, Business Systems, Finance and Funding teams to ensure that all data is accurate and reliable.
Investigate and research other quality systems to address organisational need as required.
Monitor system usage and compliance, identifying inconsistencies and areas for improvement and escalate where necessary.
Carry out system audits to ensure compliance and quality standards.
Identify underperformance, gaps, and risks and escalate appropriately.
Maintain accurate and auditable records in line with internal and external regulatory requirements.
Ensure that all systems support readiness for external inspections e.g. Ofsted.
Develop and maintain clear standards, guidance, and expectations for system use across the college.
Provide training, coaching, and guidance to staff on effective use of quality systems including developing user-friendly resources and support materials.
Work collaboratively with teams to embed systems into everyday teaching, learning, and assessment practice.
Develop student-facing training resources on how to access the relevant quality systems.
Analyse quality system-based data to monitor learner progress, retention, and achievement, value added and assessment and marking practices including internal verification.
Identify trends, risks, and areas for development through detailed analysis, and proactively recommend actions to improve outcomes.
Contribute to performance reporting in Performance Boards and Quality Focus Areas.
Use system insights to support self-assessment and quality improvement planning.
Support curriculum teams in using system data to inform timely interventions and improvements.
Support a culture of evidence-based decision-making and continuous improvement.
Support organisational activity including open evenings, enrolment and events as required.
