Full job description

Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer

A vacancy has arisen for a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out predominantly electrical maintenance and installation work, with a mechanical bias being desirable. The role will be undertaken as directed by the Engineering Manager.

Working Hours

Monday to Thursday: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
Friday: 8:00 am – 1:00 pm

A full UK driving licence is preferred.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be a time-served Electrician with a minimum NVQ Level 3 qualification in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent qualification, together with the 17th/18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations.

Candidates must have practical experience and knowledge of working with:

Electrical systems
Pneumatic systems
Hydraulic systems
Industrial machinery and equipment
Electrical installations
PLC systems and fault finding
HMI units

Experience of programming and fault finding on Mitsubishi PLCs and HMIs, or similar systems, would be highly advantageous.

The role will involve a broad range of maintenance activities, with a strong electrical focus. Full in-house training will be provided to the successful candidate to familiarise them with the Company's machinery, equipment, processes and maintenance procedures.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on machinery and equipment.
Respond promptly to emergency breakdowns and call-outs as required.
Diagnose and rectify electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic faults.
Carry out electrical installations, modifications and improvements as required.
Undertake in-house PAT testing.
Assist with the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives within your area of responsibility.
Carry out general maintenance across all areas of the organisation.
Support the safe and efficient operation of machinery and equipment.
Provide training and guidance to other members of the department where required.
Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with Company Health & Safety policies, procedures, rules and regulations.
Maintain a clean, safe and tidy working environment.
Participate in the Company's on-call rota, approximately 1 week in every 4 weeks.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

The successful candidate will ideally demonstrate:

Time-served Electrician status.
NVQ Level 3 Electrical qualification or equivalent, as a minimum.
17th/18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations qualification.
Proven experience in electrical maintenance and installation.
Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
Experience working with PLCs and HMIs.
Knowledge of Mitsubishi PLC systems, programming and fault finding, or equivalent experience with similar systems.
Practical knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
A proactive approach to preventative maintenance and continuous improvement.
A strong commitment to Health & Safety.
Flexibility to participate in the on-call rota.
A full UK driving licence is preferred.
