Full job description

Transport Operations Administrator / Coordinator

Hours: Monday to Friday, 11:00am – 8:00pm
Starting Rate: £13.50 per hour
Job Type: Full-time

We are looking for a confident, organised and hardworking individual to join our busy Transport Operations team.

This is a fast-paced role at the heart of our day-to-day transport operation. You will be working closely with our drivers, agency drivers, customers and other members of the operations team to help ensure collections and deliveries run smoothly.

No two days are exactly the same, so we're looking for someone who can think on their feet, stay organised under pressure and confidently deal with several tasks at once.

Key Responsibilities

Printing and processing collection and delivery jobs
Monitoring and responding to emails throughout the day
Communicating with employed and agency drivers
Dealing with customer queries and providing updates
Using our internal transport system to manage and update jobs
Organising and coordinating trunk freight
Ensuring drivers have the correct job information and paperwork
Updating job details and resolving issues as they arise
Liaising with other members of the operations team
General transport administration and paperwork
Helping to keep the operation organised during busy periods

What We're Looking For

This is a very busy working environment, so you will need to be comfortable working at pace and managing multiple priorities.

The ideal candidate will be:

Highly organised with good attention to detail
Confident communicating with drivers and customers
Comfortable using computers, email and internal systems
Able to multitask and prioritise effectively
Calm and professional when dealing with problems or changes
Able to make sensible decisions in a fast-moving environment
Reliable, punctual and willing to work as part of a team
Confident communicating by both telephone and email

Previous experience in transport, logistics, operations, traffic planning or a busy administrative environment would be an advantage, although training on our internal systems and processes will be provided.

Hours & Pay

Monday to Friday
11:00am – 8:00pm

Starting rate: £13.50 per hour

Please note that the working hours may change after the first few months, depending on the requirements of the operation. Any changes would be discussed with the successful candidate.

About the Role

This isn't a quiet desk-based administration position. Our operations office is busy, and priorities can change quickly throughout the day.

We're looking for someone who enjoys that type of environment — someone who can keep on top of emails, drivers, customers, paperwork and the transport system while remaining organised and professional.

Pay: £14.00 per hour
