Full job description

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Legal Secretary to join our dynamic legal team, within our Private Client department. The ideal candidate will possess strong organisational skills and a solid understanding of legal terminology and procedures, but training will be given. This role is crucial in ensuring the smooth operation of our office, providing essential administrative support to solicitors and other legal professionals.

Responsibilities

Manage and organise office tasks, ensuring efficient workflow within the legal department.
Prepare, edit, and proofread legal documents and correspondence using Microsoft Word and Excel.
Maintain an organised filing system for both electronic and paper documents, ensuring easy retrieval of information.
Schedule appointments, manage calendars, and coordinate meetings for legal staff using Outlook.
Communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and external parties, providing updates and information as required.
Conduct audio typing for dictations from solicitors to ensure timely completion of documents.
Assist in the preparation of case files.
Perform general administrative duties such as managing incoming calls, emails, and correspondence.
Some reception cover will be involved due to the small nature of the firm and assistance to other departments.

Experience
The ideal candidate will have:

Proven experience in an office environment, preferably within a legal setting.
Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word and Excel.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
A good understanding of IT systems relevant to office management.
Experience with audio typing, though not essential.
