Full job description

We require a chef/cook to work 5 days per week on a permanent basis, plus assist with occasional holiday & sickness cover. The shifts will be from 7am to 3.30pm & must include alternate weekends. Previous experience essential and you must be reliable, able to work on your own initiative and be able to produce tasty, home cooked meals for our elderly residents, many of whom are living with Dementia. You will also be responsible for menu planning, stock control/rotation, ordering, overseeing the kitchen hygiene standards and generally in full charge of the kitchen and kitchen porter who will be working alongside you. Our kitchen has been refurbished and is fully commercial.

You will be a creative, highly organised, committed, motivated person, with a passion for creating great food and maintaining your environment to a high standard. In return, we offer full support and a good working environment.

Job Duties:

Prepare all food items as directed in a sanitary and timely manner
Follow recipes and presentation specifications
Operate standard kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
Maintain a clean working station whilst adhering to health & safety standards
Assist with the cleaning and organisation of kitchen and equipment
Restock items as needed throughout the shift
Adhere to all food hygiene & safety standards

Additional Duties:

Menu planning
Food shopping
Recording food temperatures

Qualifications
- Food preparation and cooking skills
- Culinary experience in a professional kitchen setting
- Strong leadership and supervising experience
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and procedures
- Catering experience and familiarity with serving practices
